The environment for entrepreneurs in Brazil is becoming more favorable, especially regarding the bureaucracy involved in opening new businesses. According to the Federal Government's Business Map, the average time to start a business in the country is now just 21 hours. This data reflects a significant reduction of 6 hours (22.2%) compared to the end of the third four-month period of 2023 and 9 hours (30.0%) compared to the first four-month period of the same year.
In June 2024, 347,000 companies were opened in Brazil, with 80% of them being registered in less than a day. The report, prepared by the National Secretariat for Microenterprise and Small Business (MEMP), highlights that in the first four months of 2024, 1,456,958 companies were opened, representing a 26.5% increase compared to the last four months of 2023 and a 9.2% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
Rafael Caribé, CEO of Agilize Online Accounting, a company that assists with the opening of CNPJs, notes that this trend points to a more agile and adaptable business environment in Brazil. "The reduction in opening, feasibility, and registration times for companies not only makes life easier for entrepreneurs but also encourages the entry of new players into the market, strengthening the economy as a whole," comments Caribé.
The report also reveals that from January to April 2024, 854,150 companies were closed, a 24.4% increase compared to the last four months of 2023 and a 15.5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Despite the increase in the number of closed companies, the net balance is positive with 602,808 new companies, totaling 21,738,420 active companies in the country.
Although challenges persist, especially with the increasing number of extinct companies, the data indicates a balance between business closures and the opening of new companies. This dynamic reflects a healthy and transforming economy.
The significant reduction in the time to open companies, combined with other observed trends, signals a promising future for entrepreneurship in Brazil, opening doors to creativity, innovation and business success.
