On September 13th, Programmer's Day (Developer's Day) is celebrated. This professional is increasingly gaining prominence in the technology market in Brazil and worldwide. With the advancement of digital transformation, the demand for qualified professionals in the field is constantly increasing. A study conducted by the international consultancy IDC indicates that Brazil is the third country in the world with the highest number of software developers, behind only the United States and India. According to a Microsoft survey, there are currently more than 400,000 development and programming professionals in Brazil.
Many of these professionals work as PJ (Legal Entity) and, in some cases, for companies abroad. It is at this moment that the technology, which they themselves help to develop, becomes an ally when the programmer organizes their finances.
Online accounting, for example, is an efficient way for the programmer to keep the company's documentation up to date without facing too much bureaucracy. A Speed up,The first online accounting company in Brazil, serving companies from various sectors, with over 7,000 technology companies across the country alone.According to the company's CEO, Rafael Caribé, since 2019 there has been a significant increase in the number of service providers in the development sector, including those working for abroad.
“Our clients include many software developers who love new things. We provide advice to explain how to issue an invoice, how to receive payments and which taxes are applicable for each type of activity,” explains the CEO.
This evolution in the technology market has brought a growing demand for solutions that not only facilitate the issuance of invoices and the collection of taxes, but also help developers take advantage of the tax advantages available.
Fernando José, accountant and training leader at Agilize Contabilidade Online, reinforces that it is precisely in this scenario that tax planning becomes essential.
He explains that the tax burden on individuals is quite high, starting at 7.5% and reaching up to 27.5%, depending on the amount received monthly. When providing services abroad, the developer may be exempt from some taxes – such as ISS, PIS, and COFINS – and the applicable rate becomes 6%. "If there is exemption, the Individual will pay less than that," adds Fernando.
“Today, we help developers to undertake and avoid taxing everything on an individual basis due to the high tax burden, facilitating the opening of a CNPJ. Once the company is established, we provide all the necessary tax and fiscal guidance for this sector”, he adds.
The development activity begins with a higher taxation, in Annex V, at 15.5%. "The Agilize client can use a robot called Fator R, which indicates the ideal tax regime to reduce the tax burden. When this robot is activated, it stops paying the 15.5% from Annex V and begins paying from 6%, which is the tax benefit of Annex III," explains the training leader.
The accounting firm also provides a tool for invoice generation, used in creating documents for international shipping. "Foreign companies do not request an invoice, but rather the invoice document, which is a bill. Therefore, we provide a completely free invoice generator to facilitate the client's contact in Brazil with their international contractors," explains the accountant.
The importance of the programmer
The programmer's work is essential for the development of new technologies that transform our lives. These professionals create solutions that improve everything from communication to business management, helping companies and individuals become more efficient. Furthermore, the role of the programmer goes beyond developing software. They innovate, solve problems, and directly collaborate with global economic growth. In the case of programmers working as independent contractors, online accounting is a valuable ally, as it facilitates the tax regularization process, allowing them to focus on what they do best: programming and transforming the world with their creations.
