It all started with an initiative, in 2008, of a trio of Brazilians who shared a room in London, United Kingdom. The following year, was officially born, already in Brazilian lands, in Rio Grande do Sul, Real Seguro Viagem, the first travel insurance comparator in Brazil. In 2024, the company reaches 15 years expanding the services offered, improving the customer service area and reaching the home of 1 million and 400 thousand travelers served.
In practice, it is a platform by which the traveler makes the quotation of travel insurance options. The person indicates origin and destination and dates scheduled for embarkation and disembarkation. The tool presents packages from several insurers, with anticipation of up to one year. By the Real Travel Insurance itself, the traveler then makes the choice and purchase of his package. It is worth remembering that travel insurance is mandatory in various parts of the world, such as Europe, and recommended for travel in general.
“The process of quotation, presentation of options and purchase of the package by the customer can be done in three minutes”, emphasizes the director of operations of the company, Hugo Reichenbach (partner of Real Seguro Viagem. “A person compares the plans offered by the various partner insurers, both as prices and benefits contemplated, and chooses the option that best suits you”, adds the executive.
It is at this point 'to deliver options that meet specific needs for each traveler profile 'ONE of the increments promoted by Real Seguro Viagem in its portfolio. The company has included plans that provide specific coverage for the elderly and pregnant; and also for sports travelers, or for those who will make their routes on motorcycle, for example. Also, plans with coverage for the covid-19.
Another improvement is in the focus on customer service. The director of operations notes that when the matter is safe, there are many doubts among travelers, in addition to being seen as an item subject to bureaucracy. “We created an application, called Seu’, which puts the traveler in direct contact with the insurer. Finally, we work to make the person feel confident in buying the most appropriate plan and know how to proceed if they need to resort to the insurance”, Reichenbach points out.
This means, according to the executive, a constant investment in the development of technology. And, although registered with CNPJ in Porto Alegre, since 2015 the company is adept at the concept of digital nomad. Thus, the team of professionals ( formed by more than 40 employees 40 IS distributed in more than ten cities throughout Brazil.
Back to the origin of everything: the first steps began in London in 2008. At the time, Rafael Antonello, Diego Dias and Gabriel Engel, in exchange in the United Kingdom, demanded travel insurance and had the first contact with online comparators.In 2009, that experiment became a company, consisting of Rafael and Gabriel.
“Abrimos CNPJ, we received authorization to operate, we rented a very small room and put on the air, in February 2009, the site of the first travel insurance comparator of Brazil”, recalls the director of operations. “We will never forget the first sale on the site, on a Saturday morning that same month”, he is proud.
Since then, there have been important milestones.In 2012, Real launched an affiliate program to support traveling bloggers. In 2015, the option to be a digital nomad. In 2019, it was contemplated by Scale Up Endeavor, a program that drives innovative ventures. Soon the following year, a scare: the covid-19 pandemic, when the company tightened its belt, but guaranteed the right to reimburse all customers who could not travel because of the pandemic.
In 2020 Hugo Reichenbach also enters society, initially developing the rebranding and restructuring of various processes.And in 2024, growth continues, in line with changes in the way of travel and tourism trends.
