Serpro is one of the founding members of the new Linux Foundation organization

Serpro has become part of the group of global organizations that support, as founding members, the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust. This new division of the non-profit organization Linux Foundation (LF) was created with the aim of promoting innovation and collaboration in the development and implementation of decentralized technologies and systems, such as: blockchain, ledgers, identity, cryptography and others.

LF Decentralized Trust is born with 17 projects, including Hyperledger Fabric, used in the IRS solutions operated by Serpro, such as bConnect, bCadastro and bCompartilha, the latter also applied in the National Identity Card (CIN).

Alexandre Amorim, president of Serpro, highlighted the importance of the partnership. “With this initiative, Serpro reinforces its strategic role as the main supplier of technological solutions for government spheres, integrating itself into a community of innovative leaders, committed to building a digital economy, more decentralized, transparent, effective and reliable”, he highlighted.

Robust environment for blockchain development

For Marco Tulio Lima, manager of Digital Currency Products, Blockchain and Web3 at Serpro, “ company has an essential role to bring, through off-chain validations in official government databases, greater confidence for business environments, increasing agility and reducing the costs of transactions on Web3”, explains. Other projects that are part of the partnership are Hyperledger Besu, the basis of the Blockchain Network Brazil (RBB), which counts on the participation of Serpro, and DREX (Digital Real).

According to Guilherme Funchal, Blockchain Products Manager at Serpro, LF offers a robust environment for the development of enterprise applications in blockchain. For him, with this partnership, Serpro strengthens open-source development, driving innovation in sectors such as finance and digital identity. “This collaboration allows Serpro not only to keep up with global technological innovations, but also to lead the implementation of decentralized solutions that ensure privacy, security and traceability of critical information in the country”, he stated.

Among the founding members of the LF Decentralized Foundation, national institutions such as the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen), the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the Telecommunications Research and Development Center (CPQD), and international institutions such as American Express, Citi, Deutsche Telecom, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Huawei, IBM, NEC, Oracle, Polygon, Siemens, Walmart and Visa stand out.
