Fluminense SMEs Boost E-commerce Growth in Rio de Janeiro in 2025

Rio de Janeiro consolidated itself as a crucial logistics hub for Brazilian e-commerce in 2025, with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) leading the volume of goods shipments.A recent study reveals that the state has surpassed major brands in the participation of shipments, highlighting the strength and growing professionalization of small and medium businesses in the digital landscape.

Performance of SMEs in Carioca E-commerce

The fourth quarter of 2025 positioned Rio de Janeiro as the fourth largest state in terms of volume of goods sent by SMEs, representing 8% of national shipments in this segment. This performance was higher than that of the major brands, which concentrated 6% in the same period. The study by Loggi, released in February 2026, analyzed delivery data for the last quarter of 2025 and presented an unprecedented annual balance sheet.

Rio de Janeiro as Logistics Hub

Considering the total volume of shipments in the fourth quarter of 2025, Rio de Janeiro stood out as the sixth state with the highest number of packages sent, reinforcing its strategic importance in national logistics.In the annual cut, the role of the Rio de Janeiro SMEs was even more evident, with Rio being the third state with the highest volume of shipments made by small and medium businesses throughout the year.

The Southeast Force and Logistics Innovation

The Southeast region has consolidated itself as a national leader in the volume of shipments made by SMEs, a reflection of the maturity of regional e-commerce and the growing professionalization of entrepreneurs. In 2025, a structural change was observed in the operations of SMEs: the use of Receipt Points (PUDOs) increased seven times compared to 2024, accounting for 33% of shipments, while traditional collection still represents 67%.

Impact of Commemorative Dates and Consumer Preferences

The commemorative dates had a significant impact on the performance of e-commerce. In Christmas week, the total volume of shipments grew 45% for SMEs, and on Black Friday, the increase was 57% for all business sizes.In the Southeast, the most marketed products in 2025 were cosmetics and perfumery, followed by clothing and fashion, electronics and computer.

Increasing Consumer Requirement

The Brazilian e-commerce market in 2025 proved to be increasingly competitive, with more than 47 million kilometers traveled in delivery operations. The consumer requirement also raised the standard of service, with 45% of deliveries made in up to two days and 57% in up to three days.
