Observability becomes a competitive differential in Brazilian companies

Observability, seen as a technical resource to monitor IT systems, has been gaining prominence in Brazilian companies: the strategic asset for competitiveness and business decision making. In a scenario of increasingly complex digital operations, observing systems in real time has become a determining factor for efficiency, innovation and growth.

According to the most recent Annual Observability Survey, 96% of organizations in Brazil already use multiple technologies to ensure visibility of their digital environments, and almost a quarter of them operate with six or more tools simultaneously.

For Leonardo Santos, CTO of Delphia, curating digital journeys, the competitive edge is not just in monitoring systems, but in transforming operational data into strategic intelligence.

“A real turnaround happens when observability starts to guide business decisions. It is not just about knowing if the system is in the air, but understanding how technology impacts the customer experience, revenue and financial efficiency of the” operation, says the executive.

From visibility to decision making

With the accelerated digitization of end-to-end journeys, companies have begun to operate critical environments in which seconds of unavailability can generate significant financial losses. In this context, observability evolves into a management layer, which connects technical data to business results and security, allowing to anticipate bottlenecks, protect margins and sustain mission-critical operations, such as payment systems and e-commerce platforms.

The survey also shows that 93% of Brazilian companies already use SLOs (Service Level Objectives) at different stages, higher than the global average of 73%. The use of these indicators reinforces the connection between technology and business, transforming technical metrics into governance instruments and strategic alignment.

Efficiency, governance and cost control

Another direct impact of observability is on efficiency and financial governance. With increasingly dynamic cloud environments, poorly sized decisions can raise costs almost immediately. In this scenario, observability connects to practices such as FinOps, allowing greater transparency and control over spending on infrastructure and digital services.

In Brazil, the adoption of FinOps already reaches 85% of companies, against 55% in the rest of the world, according to the same survey. Organizations that have adopted centralized observability models report savings between 15% and 40% in operating costs, a result of greater predictability and more efficient use of resources.

“Observability today is also a governance tool.It allows technical leaders and executives to speak the same language, connecting performance, cost and value delivered to the” client, says Leonardo Santos.

Beyond monitoring

High-impact events such as Black Friday exemplify this new strategic role. During access peaks, companies start to monitor not only the health of systems, but also conversion indicators, payment approval, response time and real-time business performance, all in one dashboard, guiding instant decisions.

For Delfia, companies that treat observability only as a technical item tend to face difficulties of scale and predictability. Those that incorporate the practice since the design of digital journeys can gain agility, resilience and competitive advantage in increasingly disputed markets.

“In an environment where competition is just a few clicks away, observing well means making the best decisions. And deciding better is what sustains long-term competitiveness”, concludes the CTO of Delfia.
