What to Expect from AI in the Coming Years? Expert Points Out Perspectives and Trends for the Technology

Artificial intelligence is the topic of global priority. With its potential to automate and enhance data and tasks, large companies, and even countries, find themselves today in a real race in search of becoming the reference within this dispute – which makes the topic go far beyond debates about technology and become a matter of geopolitics.

in the view of Renato Avelar, partner and co-CEO of the A&EIGHT, an ecosystem of high-performance end-to-end digital solutions, a technology as powerful as artificial intelligence should be seen as something analogous to the war industry“ AI has become a strategic factor in the dispute for global hegemony, directly impacting geopolitical relations, such as tensions between the United States and China, in which the first even limits the purchase of chips by the Asian giant, essential for the development of new software, for example”, he explains.

One of the most recent examples came with the launch of Chinese artificial intelligence DeepSeek, competitor of Open AI, creator of ChatGPT. Launched in January, the R1 model shook the US market with a drop of 1 trillion USD in technology startups, according to the NASDAQ 100 index, which brings together the main American technology companies. A little less than a week later, Chinese tech giant Alibaba announced a new version of its model, Qwen 2.5, which, according to her, is superior to the Chinese competitor, demonstrating in a practical way this dispute for global governance through AI.

For the executive, the dispute between Bigtechs and startups for the advancement of AI tends to intensify in the coming years. “ The technology has already undergone major transformations between 2023 and 2024, but the 2025-2027 triennium promises to be a period of more changes for the sector, especially with AI”, he evaluates. Check out the main topics that the sector should pay attention to in the coming years below.

went beyond chatbots

AI will continue to evolve beyond chatbot applications, expanding to sectors such as retail, health, finance, manufacturing, transportation and arts. Advanced models will allow for greater customization and automation of tasks, while predictive analytics and intelligent decision-making will become increasingly sophisticated – as the focus of large technology companies is to become leaders in data analysis.

However, according to Avelar, we must understand artificial intelligence, at the moment, as something similar to the discovery of electricity, “we have a powerful tool at hand, but which is still under development and little by little we are better understanding its capacity”, he explains.

He adds that, following this reasoning, it is as if we were still in the lamp, “that is, today there are already innovations in several fields that use this technology, however, both companies and governments need to have better mastery of the tool so that they can create more with it, it is like a new economy emerging and dictating what the future will be like”.

Therefore, for the specialist, it is necessary to discuss the parallel between transformation and optimization by artificial intelligence. “When we talk about optimization, we are focusing on increasing operational efficiency, reducing costs and maximizing revenue through scale, but without affecting the center of the operation. The transformation, on the other hand, changes the company's business model completely, affecting from end products to the company's own Corebusiness”, he reflects.

Therefore, it is possible that chatbots, although popular, lose relevance, since their practical impact on everyday life has proved to be limited. “With the growing complexity of human-technology interactions, new models of smart assistants capable of offering more contextual and personalized responses will gain space,” Avelar highlights. For him, companies that manage to develop assistants with greater ability to understand and personalize will have a great competitive differential in the coming years”, explains the executive.

In this scenario, onboard companions, for example, promise to be a technology with high practical application for companies. The co-CEO points out that this tool can be used in practically all fields, accelerating medical diagnoses, providing for the probability of gaining causes in courts and even designing financial operations scenarios to increase profit.

Large-scale language models (LLM)

The trend is for predictive flows to advance significantly, leaving behind the dependence on a single generic agent. In the future, AI models will feature architectures based on specialized agents, allowing for more effective interaction. Instead of a single chatbot, a primary agent will distribute questions to automated experts, optimizing responses and making technology more efficient and adaptable to different contexts. This will bring great advances in complex processes such as technical support, market analysis and personalized recommendations on digital platforms.

The A&Eight partner also points out that the new operating systems will be built to be operated by humans and artificial intelligence concomitantly, “thinking about it, the integration of systems, including using AI in place of traditional APIs, will make all the difference. This technology can be used for much more technical and operational tasks, while the work of the human will be much more focused on curation and quality analysis than on performing tasks themselves”, he points out.

The evolution of LLMs will also impact education, where learning assistants will be able to adapt teaching materials according to the progress and difficulties of the students. In the legal sector, advanced systems will be able to analyze documents and suggest strategies based on historical precedents.

Therefore, according to Avelar, professionals who do not want to be without a job should use artificial intelligence first. “It is likely that we will have professionals who are relocated or unemployed in this scenario, but this will not occur due to the replacement of human labor by technology, but by the lack of adaptability, both in the short and long term”. That is, the global discussion will focus on how to promote human inclusion in digital processes “AI will not replace professionals, but will offer tools that will increase their efficiency, allowing them to concentrate efforts on strategic decisions”, points out the co-CEO.

cybersecurity in focus

With the increase in digital threats, including between countries, cybersecurity will become one of the fundamental pillars of AI evolution. Solutions such as biometric authentication, quantum encryption and AI-based security should gain space to protect sensitive infrastructure and data globally.

Sectors such as e-commerce will need to strengthen their security strategies to face increasing risks, adopting predictive fraud detection models and automated systems to respond to cyber attacks.“Today there are already digital criminals who copy websites in a few hours, upload non-existent products and advertise on social networks with fake and extremely convincing avatars of celebrities. To avoid this type of fraud, it will require the intelligence of tokenization of e-commerce, detection of scam and, especially, severe penalties for virtual crimes”, reinforces Avelar.

Financial organizations, on the other hand, should invest in AI to improve protection protocols, reducing exposure to data leaks and phishing attacks, “cybersecurity will be one of the critical pillars in the evolution of AI. With the increase in digital threats, technology will play a key role in creating intelligent barriers against cyberattacks, both in the private sector and in the context of disputes between global powers”, highlights the professional.

macroeconomic scenario and investments

The global economic environment will also play a crucial role in the development of AI. The increase in the cost of financial capital should create challenges for technology companies, requiring startups and major players to demonstrate economic sustainability to ensure new investments. Despite this scenario, the AI market should continue to expand, offering opportunities for innovation and expansion of existing solutions. “Large corporations should adapt their business models, focusing on AI as a competitive differential”, analyzes the Co-CEO.

In the case of the labor market, the advancement of AI may reshape it by creating new functions that will require specific qualifications. The most recent case was the meta, which made changes in its staff, investing especially in professionals specialized in artificial intelligence.

Therefore, companies will need to invest in professional training to ensure that their employees can make the most of the new technological tools. “ The job market will not lose vacancies due to AI, but rather reconfigured, and the qualification of professionals will be essential for this new reality”, concludes Avelar.
