Nuvemshop, an e-commerce platform, announced a strategic partnership with Meta to launch a new feature in WhatsApp, aimed at the direct-to-consumer (D2C) market. The collaboration presents a feature that allows consumers to complete the entire purchase process, from product discovery to payment, without having to leave WhatsApp. The solution for online payment checkout was created exclusively for Brazil and positions Nuvemshop as the first e-commerce platform in the world that allows paying without leaving WhatsApp.
“This is a historic milestone for global e-commerce. By bringing the complete purchase journey into WhatsApp, we are inaugurating the era of agentic trade, in which technology and artificial intelligence play a fundamental role in sales, making the journey more fluid and frictionless”, explains Alejandro Vázquez, president and co-founder of CloudShop. “By building this partnership with Meta, through the integration of WhatsApp with our AI solution – Cloud Chat –, we are facilitating the sales and purchase processes of millions of users of the application in Brazil and the retailers who use CloudShop. It is not just a technological innovation, but a revolution in online retail”.
“WhatsApp is part of the daily life of all of us, from groups of friends to business transactions. This partnership with CloudShop further reinforces the role of WhatsApp as a business platform, as we are always looking for new partners to help us bring payment services to all people and companies that use WhatsApp in Brazil to purchase products and services. Our goal is to increasingly enrich the experience within conversations, allowing people to solve everything within WhatsApp – and payments are a fundamental part of this experience”, comments Tarcisio Ribeiro, director of WhatsApp's monetization partnerships.
Automated integration
The solution works through direct integration of Cloud Chat, advanced AI technology developed by CloudShop, to WhatsApp, via the Application Programming Interface (API – mechanisms that allow two software components to communicate using a set of definitions and protocols). With the integration, Cloud Chat connects in real time with the online store, accessing information such as product catalog, shipping methods, payment methods, promotions and order status. AI is able to interpret text, image and audio, as well as requesting human help when necessary, ensuring a hybrid and effective experience at all stages of the purchase process.
For example, a consumer contacts the store via Whatapp asking about a product. AI responds with all the details of the available options. When choosing the desired option, Cloud Chat creates the cart and provides direct payment in the conversation, via the paid cloud (MecudoMói de Pagais owned by CloudShop), already with the customer's saved payment data on their wallet. If the consumer does not have payment data saved in CloudShop, he can register on the spot.
“Today, most conversations with customers happen on WhatsApp. But turning these conversations into sales is still laborious and full of impasses, as the shopkeeper wastes time answering repetitive questions, he cannot handle long service journeys and often needs to redirect the customer to another channel when closing the purchase — which generates a loss of conversion. Our solution solves this by allowing the entire purchase journey, from the payment service, to take place within the conversation on WhatsApp, in an automated and scalable way”, completes Vázquez.
In addition to facilitating consumer purchases, Cloud Chat integrated with WhatsApp allows online retail entrepreneurs, whether small or big brands, to scale their service and convert more sales.
All messages on WhatsApp are protected with end-to-end encryption, and CloudShop does not store conversations or data. All information exchange takes place directly in the secure infrastructure of the meta, ensuring compliance with legislation such as the LGPD and GDPR.
