The Ministry of Entrepreneurship (MEMP) and Shopee signed a protocol of intentions to strengthen and digitize Brazilian entrepreneurship.The partnership marks a new step in the integration between the public sector and the private digital ecosystem, focusing on expanding the access of micro and small companies to digital commerce, boosting the generation of income, innovation and competitiveness in the country. The signature took place on Tuesday, 4, at the new Shopee Distribution Center in Sao Bernardo do Campo (SP) (SP) 3.8 million packages per day.
Through the agreement, MEMP and Shopee will work together to accelerate the development and digitalization of regional economic poles, with projects of training, productive inclusion and support to the local industry.The initiative aims to expand market opportunities for entrepreneurs from all regions of Brazil, connecting small businesses to the digital environment and promoting the use of technological tools to expand sales and strengthen local brands.
As part of the collaboration, it is also planned to amplify the visibility of government programs of the Ministry, such as Acredita and MEI Conta com a Gente, among the entrepreneurs of the platform, expanding the reach of public policies.
The partnership reinforces the commitment of MEMP with the sustainable and inclusive growth of small businesses and Shopee as an ally of the Brazilian entrepreneur and local economic development. Currently, the marketplace offers income opportunity to more than 8 million Brazilians, among sellers, affiliates, partner drivers and Shopee Agencies. The national retailers are responsible for more than 90% of sales on the platform. In addition, more than 650 thousand entrepreneurs have already been empowered by their educational initiatives. For many of them, Shopee was the gateway into digital commerce: 30% sold online for the first time and more than 5T has its main source of revenue today.
