Eyeing Black Friday, demand for electronics and household appliances increases online in October

Smartphones, TV Boxes, washer-dryer machines, air conditioners, and air coolers. These are some of the most sought-after items in the major electronics retail sector in the month preceding Black Friday 2024, which will occur on November 29th. This is indicated by the October edition of Radar Simplex, a survey by the Franco-Brazilian startup Simplex, which monitors consumer searches on the country's largest e-commerce platforms and identifies trends through an artificial intelligence platform.

“Seasonally in October, searches already point to purchase intentions. The household appliance and electronics sectors traditionally continue to concentrate the largest volume of searches related to the event,” highlights João Lee, CEO of the startup.

Leading the ranking of the top 10 most searched terms, the Samsung A54 smartphone showed a growth of 857.5% compared to September. For the Simplex executive, the search for an intermediate model reflects a consumer concerned with saving, looking for more affordable alternatives.

Xiaomi on the rise

The Xiaomi brand, in turn, appears in the October Radar with an increase of 278.6% compared to the previous month. “What's interesting in this case is to observe how the Chinese brand has been winning over Brazilians, remembering that it includes not only smartphones but also watches, electronics, and even household appliances,” analyzes João.

The popularity of the Chinese giant is corroborated by its annual growth. According to Simplex data, when compared to the same period last year, the growth is also significant: a 123.7% increase in searches for the brand's products.

TV Box (+436.1%), air conditioner (+252.1%), hair dryer (+231.3%), and washer-dryer machine (+227%) also stand out in purchase intentions related to Black Friday.

Peruvian Maca is the supplement of the moment

But the market does not live on Black Friday alone. The superfood Peruvian Maca, a plant whose root has been increasingly consumed as a supplement, saw a jump of 684.1% compared to September. In the annual comparison, the increase in demand is even more impressive: a rise of 15,057.2%.

The growing popularity of the supplement is due to its benefits related to improving physical endurance, vitality, and libido, among other factors. “It's an interest that has been intensifying and that expresses the Brazilian's interest in dietary supplements. Perhaps 2023 was the year of creatine, as we saw in past editions of the Radar, but Peruvian Maca has been standing out in 2024,” observes the CEO of Simplex.
