according to the Serasa Experian Business Birth Indicator, In April, 396,802 new businesses were created. Besides being the highest number recorded since the beginning of the historical series of the index, which started in January 2010, this volume represents an increase of 32.7% compared to the same month in 2023. “The dynamic business environment and government policies supporting entrepreneurship have stimulated the opening of new companies. The acceleration of digital transformation also allows many entrepreneurs to start their activities with less need for initial capital and face reduced entry barriers. To maintain the financial health of businesses, it is essential to have access to adequate resources, assertive guidance, and solid infrastructure to sustain long-term growth and avoid insolvency risks,” analyzes Cleber Genero, Vice President of Small and Medium Enterprises at Serasa Experian.
The “Services” segment accounted for the largest portion of businesses created in April (73.4%), followed by “Commerce” (19.4%). Regarding the business type, “Individual Microentrepreneur” (MEI) stood out as the preferred option (70.9%). São Paulo created over 120,000 businesses in April
According to the survey, in April, the state of São Paulo concentrated the opening of 120,044 companies, a trend driven by its economic dynamism, according to Cleber Genero. In second place was Minas Gerais (41,593) and Rio de Janeiro (30,954) in third. In the last positions were Roraima (821), Acre (807), and Amapá (768). Methodology
For the Business Births survey, the monthly quantity of new companies registered at the commercial boards of all Federative Units of Brazil was considered, as well as the monthly verification of CNPJs consulted for the first time in the Serasa Experian database.
