The scenario for entrepreneurs in Brazil is becoming more favorable, especially with regard to bureaucracy for the opening of new companies. According to the Federal Government Business Map, the average time to open a company in the country is now only 21 hours. This figure reflects a significant reduction of 6 hours (22.2%) compared to the end of the third quarter of 2023 and 9 hours (30.0%) compared to the first quarter of the same year.
In June 2024, 347 thousand companies were opened in Brazil, with 80% of them being registered in less than one day. The report, prepared by the National Secretariat of Microenterprise and Small Business (MEMP), highlights that in the first quarter of 2024 1,456,958 companies were opened, representing an increase of 26.5% compared to the last four months of 2023 and 9.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Rafael Caribe, CEO of Agilize Accounting Online, a company that helps in the opening of CNPJs, notes that this trend points to a more agile and adaptable business environment in Brazil. “A reduction in opening times, viability and registration of companies not only facilitates the lives of entrepreneurs, but also stimulates the entry of new players in the market, strengthening the economy as a whole”, comments Caribe.
The report also reveals that in the same period from January to April 2024, 854,150 companies were closed, an increase of 24.4% compared to the last quarter of 2023 and 15.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. Despite the increase in the number of closed companies, the balance is positive with 602,808 new companies, totaling 21,738,420 companies active in the country.
While challenges persist, especially with the growing number of companies going extinct, the data indicates a balance between closing deals and opening new companies.
The significant reduction in the time to open companies, combined with other trends observed, signals a promising future for entrepreneurship in Brazil, opening doors to creativity, innovation and business success.
