Brazilian startup Pertalks, which launched an innovative solution to promote face-to-face meetings in hotels, bars, restaurants and cafes, connecting people with shared interests, is now available for download in iOS and Android stores. The platform aims to balance digital communication with authentic and meaningful social interactions, and is available in any city in the world.
Making friends outside the home region can be challenging for many, research from InterNations, the largest exile community in the world, has already revealed that only 57% of foreigners find it easy to build new friendships abroad, while less than 45% claims it has managed to establish ties with local citizens. The purpose of the application is to create a community of travelers and residents who want to connect through common preferences, sharing experiences and practicing languages.
Pertalks works through an on-site check-in, possible thanks to the geolocation of the platform. The user filters his own interests and finds people in the establishment around him, open for interaction, and also offers resources for profiles to schedule meetings in later moments, fostering the possibility of new friendships.
“The idea is to bring people together in meaningful and face-to-face social interactions, based on shared interests, knowledge and desire for interaction. We believe that the best connections happen in person, and our application was developed to facilitate these encounters in a simple and safe way”, he says Luis Quadros, founder and CEO of Pertalks.
Unlike virtual dating and friendship apps, Pertalks focuses on face-to-face meetings in the current place for the exchange of interests and has been selected for several innovation events, among them the Web Summit Rio, considered one of the largest in the segment.
