81% of entrepreneurs have already implemented or plan logistics automation, research reveals 

The brazilian e-commerce has been consolidating every day and innovation is also of extreme importance to boost the business of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). According to the research 'Rota of E-commerce’ carried out by Loggi, in partnership with Opinion Box, has 81% of entrepreneurs have already implemented or plan some logistics automation (Corporate Resource Planning, in Portuguese), that is, the direct integration of packages with carriers, reflecting the focus on innovation and continuous improvement for management and sale of products. 

And to expand their business, the adoption of new technologies and process automation are pointed out by 18% of entrepreneurs as additional factors that would help most in this growth.

How SMEs handle sales

SMEs are finding new means of sales for their products, so much so that 64% brazilian entrepreneurs use social networks as the main sales channel, with Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and TikTok among the most used. The main reason for choosing social networks (60%) is in relation to the greater reach of the public. 

In addition to social networks, SMEs also use other means of sales, such as their own e-commerce website (39%), physical stores or franchises (36%), marketplaces in general (27%) and mobile applications (27%).

However, they face some difficulties, and the main barrier to domestic sales is related to the limitation of stock or production (23%). Entrepreneurs also highlight competition in the market (45%), followed by financial issues such as access to credit and financial management (30%).

How SMEs are innovating 

To deal with the company's inventory, 43% use integrated management system for sale and delivery of products, that is, they use platforms of the e-commerce ecosystem, such as online store platforms (Integrated Store, Shopify, Nuvemshop, Wix, Vtex, etc.) and sales, inventory and logistics integration systems (Linx, Bling, Olist. Tiny and Train, etc.) among the most used. 

In addition, 19% of entrepreneurs use manual spreadsheet and 18% make use of e-commerce system, but without integration with other tools.

Digital communication trends

The study also reveals important trends of entrepreneurs for communication and customer relationships with 48% betting on tutorial videos, 27% on exclusive promotions and discounts to boost sales and 12% on customer testimonials. Regarding training and search for knowledge in entrepreneurship, SME owners are consuming content mainly via social networks, such as Instagram (60%), YouTube (50%) and Facebook (36%), in addition to other means such as podcasts (24%) and television (2113T), reflecting the sector innovation and innovation.

About the research (E-commerce Rota’

The research 'E-commerce'’ was conducted by Loggi, in partnership with Opinion Box, and aims to understand the profile, challenges and strategies adopted by Brazilian entrepreneurs in relation to sales practices, logistics, use of digital platforms, automation and channels of relationship with the public.

The survey was conducted between April and May 2025 and interviewed more than 100 e-commerce entrepreneurs throughout Brazil, who make at least 30 product shipments per month.
