WhatsApp channels become a new job hub

If before the scenario was to print many resumes, put on nice clothes, and go door to door delivering the document with the hope of getting a job, that has changed.

The vast majority of large companies concentrate their opportunities in HR agencies, and these open their applications online. In other words, now the act of ‘job hunting’ can happen at home and in pajamas.

In this new reality, one of the ways HR departments are finding to advertise their vacancies, besides social media, is WhatsApp. The so-called ‘Channels’ already reflect as boosters of this dissemination.

Karina Pelanda, Recruitment and Selection Manager at RH NOSSA, one of the largest companies in the segment in Brazil, explains that with the spread of social media and the advancement of people’s online connections, many positions remain unfilled simply because people don’t know they exist:

‘We are always looking to inform people about available vacancies. In the meantime, the WhatsApp job channel reaches people on a network present on 100% of Brazilians’ cell phones.’

The manager reports that since it was implemented, the company’s job channel on the messaging app has seen a significant increase in registrations, thus generating the possibility of professional relocation;

‘Our channel, for example, advertises our opportunities with direct links to applications. There’s no need to install a new app; you receive the job notification, access the link, and apply. The process has been greatly simplified,’ concludes Pelanda.

According to data released by the research We Are Social e Meltwater in 2024, the app became the most used social network in Brazil. The research indicates that 93.4% of Brazilian internet users aged 16 to 64 use WhatsApp, equivalent to 169 million users.
