Virtual reality glasses and other devices will gain protection against hackers

With the arrival of the end of the year, a period marked by holidays, travels, and the search for innovative gifts—such as virtual reality headsets (Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest), smart automotive systems (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), connected watches, and smart TVs—these items are gaining even more space in Brazilians’ lives. According to a survey Commercial Association of São Paulo (ACSP) nearly half of Brazilians (46.6%) plan to buy gifts this Christmas, with items like cell phones, computers, and appliances showing higher purchase intentions than in 2023, with increases of 5.4% and 17%, respectively. Additionally, a survey by ABComm showed that during Black Friday, 37% of e-commerce sales were electronics, many of them intended as Christmas gifts.

With an eye on this scenario and anticipating cyberattacks that may rise alongside the growth of these products, Appdome, a leader in mobile experience protection, announced that its platform now extends protection to apps operating on technologies beyond smartphones, such as streaming systems, augmented reality devices, and smart cars. According to Allied Market Research, the global emerging mobile platform market is expected to grow over 20% annually until 2030.

“According to our 2024 Global Consumer Survey, mobile service usage is surpassing web and online services in all markets,” said Tom Tovar, co-creator and CEO of Appdome. “As our customers expand their offerings to new mobile platforms, it’s crucial to provide protection for these experiences, ensuring the operational efficiencies achieved with mobile app protection on smartphones.”

Technological evolution has opened new opportunities for companies to connect with consumers beyond smartphones and tablets through devices like virtual reality headsets, smart clothing, and connected cars. These innovations offer unique experiences in areas such as entertainment, healthcare, and mobility, allowing consumers to interact with brands in new ways.

However, with the growth of these platforms and mobile systems, new security risks also emerge. For example, smartwatches and virtual reality headsets are already becoming targets for cybercriminals. Hackers can steal personal data, breach accounts, and even manipulate information in connected cars and IoT systems. This underscores the need for companies to adopt effective security measures to protect their users and businesses, ensuring a consistent and secure experience across different devices while exploring new forms of engagement and growth.

With the release of new features, the Appdome Platform now offers fast and effective protection against fraud, bots, malware, and cyberattacks, while also combating cheating in virtual reality gaming devices like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest. The platform also ensures security for iOS apps on macOS with M-series chips, Apple TV, and Apple CarPlay, as well as for Android apps on Android Auto, Android TV, and Google Play Games on Windows PCs. Thanks to continuous innovation, Appdome allows Android and iOS developers to expand their presence across platforms while maintaining robust defense across all operating systems and devices.

According to Jamie Bertasi, Chief Customer Officer at Appdome, “The mobile market is in full expansion. Two years ago, Appdome focused solely on smartphones, but now, with our new AI-powered capabilities, our customers can ensure cutting-edge security, anti-fraud, and bot defense on any mobile platform, positioning Appdome as the leader in protecting the future of mobile.”
