Slovenia is the country with the highest concentration of cryptocurrency wealth in the world

With a value of $240 thousand per capita, Slovenia is the country with the highest concentration of cryptocurrency wealth in the world. In second place is Cyprus ($174.97 thousand), followed by Hong Kong ($97.53 thousand) and South Korea ($94.83 thousand). This is revealed by data from the Crypto Wealth Concentration Index by Multipolitan, a pioneer global migration platform that recently released the Crypto Friendly Cities Index 2025 study. In the report, Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, also ranks first as the world’s most crypto-friendly city.

To conduct an in-depth analysis, the indicator’s calculation took into account cryptocurrency ownership rates and trading volume (adjusted by the Gini coefficient of inequality). ‘The Index goes beyond simple data—it is a strategic tool that guides decisions about relocation, business growth, and asset management. Knowing where crypto wealth is concentrated today will shape the global financial landscape of tomorrow. The big question now is no longer about who is adopting cryptocurrencies, but rather who will hold the keys to this wealth in the future,’ emphasizes Dan Marconi, Head of Partnerships at Multipolitan.

He explains that wealth in crypto assets no longer belongs exclusively to traditional financial centers like New York, London, or Singapore. It is borderless, fluid, and finding new homes where innovation and regulatory clarity converge. ‘Cities and nations that understand this dynamic will be the protagonists of the next financial era. The financial capital of the future will be the one that actively adopts cryptocurrencies,’ explains Marconi.

England, for example, does not appear in the ranking of 20 countries. Moreover, only three nations from the Americas are present: Canada in ninth place with $57.33 thousand, Chile in 14th with a concentration of $33.71 thousand, and the United States in 17th with $23.27 thousand in trading volume per crypto asset owner.

‘Latin America has long faced obsolete financial infrastructure, which hinders economic progress and limits financial inclusion. Key issues include high friction in cross-border payments, high remittance fees, low financial inclusion, and persistent exchange rate volatility. Millions remain unbanked, and small businesses struggle to access credit, not to mention inflationary concerns,’ Marconi lists.

Another striking fact is the positioning of Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia since early 2022. In the Crypto Wealth Concentration Index, the country ranks seventh, with $74.2 thousand per person. ‘The high volume is directly related to the conflict itself. Cryptocurrencies have become an agile means to transfer and store resources, both for civilians and international donations. Ukraine has received hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto donations for humanitarian and military support,’ explains Marconi.
