Research shows Brazilians plan to spend up to R$ 100 on Easter eggs

Brazilians are feeling the impact of rising Easter egg prices in their wallets, but still don’t want to stop giving gifts to special people. A survey conducted by Zoox Smart Data shows that 44.96% of Brazilians plan to buy chocolates this year, while 29% chose not to shop and 26.06% remain undecided.

For 58.21% of respondents who haven’t purchased eggs yet or are undecided, the main reason is the increase in chocolate prices this year. The intention of 66.13% of Brazilians is to spend only R$100 on chocolates, while 20.94% want to spend up to R$200 and 12.93% up to more than R$300.

Price and promotions ranked as the top factors influencing chocolate purchases during this period at 58.08%, followed by brand and quality (33.86%) and packaging/gifts (10.05%).

The high prices have led to fewer people receiving gifts this year. According to the survey, 63.31% plan to give chocolates to up to two people, while 21.62% will gift up to four people and 15.07% more than five people.

Although many Brazilians are choosing other chocolate formats like candy boxes and bars, Easter eggs remain the public’s preferred choice, being the main purchase option for 64.93% of respondents, followed by chocolate bars (20.32%) and candy boxes (14.75%).

Despite e-commerce options, supermarkets remain the main location for buying chocolates, chosen by 51.82% of Brazilians, while 33.17% opt for specialty stores and chocolatiers, artisanal sellers (8.70%) and online (6.31%).

The survey was conducted between April 12-15 and included 3,596 respondents.
