Research reveals that tourism is the fastest-growing sector in online sales and drives entrepreneurship

Online sales in tourism have been a highlight, according to the E-commerce Sectors Report of Brazil. Travel and Accommodation was the sector that grew the most among the 18 segments evaluated, with an increase of 6.4%. The growth was mainly driven by increased demand for lodging and air transportation services. The tourism sector as a whole has been growing, according to IBGE. In October 2024, the tourism activity index grew by 4.7% compared to September, marking another positive result, with an accumulated gain of 5.2%. As a result, the tourism segment is now 12.9% above the level of February 2020 and renews its highest point in the series, surpassing June 2024 by 4.4%, the previous peak.

The positive numbers also reflect the opening of new businesses in this sector, such as 3, 2, 1 GO!, which is a franchise network specializing in offering complete travel experiences for Disney and other domestic and international destinations.

The brand was created in 2019 and since then has already reached 50 operations in Brazil and worldwide, 20 of which were inaugurated in 2024. ‘We created a home office business model because we understand that our audience seeks more convenience. That’s why, in addition to lodging and airfare, we offer a complete experience, ranging from visa issuance, airport transfers to the hotel, tours, and exclusive itineraries tailored to each profile, whether for a large or small family, a group of seniors, children with autism, or people with mobility issues.’

‘Much of the heating up of the tourism sector is post-pandemic. People have discovered that having a new car, a new house, or mansions is nice, but these stay put. So now they are investing a lot in experiences and travel. There was a huge increase in our network post-pandemic because people want to create their own stories and fulfill their dreams. The tourism market is on a constant rise, and from last year to now, there has been a 6% increase in sales and nearly 50% growth in the network. Globally speaking, this is one of the fastest-growing markets, and the trend is for it to keep growing, with all the sports events and concerts,’ said Marco Lisboa, CEO and founder of 3, 2, 1 GO!.

The survey shows that there were over 68.7 million passengers by September 2024, according to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). In 2024, 3, 2, 1 GO! will generate revenues of R$ 4 million, and according to the network’s CEO, their big differentiator is customer service: ‘The airplane seat is the same for everyone. However, the network’s success is because here we know how to serve, unlike so many other companies. We are dream consultants, and the word of encouragement I always carry is to serve our customers, understand their problem, and provide solutions. The business flows much better,’ says Marco Lisboa.

In a recent report from the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services, and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP), tourism revenues have shown positive numbers. By July, the sector had already reached R$ 17.5 billion. Among the areas evaluated, passenger air transport achieved revenues of R$ 4.62 billion, representing a 6.4% growth compared to the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, a survey by ABF (Brazilian Franchising Association) revealed that among the segments that recorded revenues equal to or greater than 12.1% (the total market performance of franchises during the surveyed period), Entertainment and Leisure stood out in first place, with revenues 15.3% higher. The sector benefited precisely from the improvement in the economic situation and pent-up pandemic demand, stimulating consumers’ search for leisure and tourism.
