Recently, the MakeOne, a national company specializing in unified communications, mobility, solid customer experience (CX) strategies, and personalized consulting, partnered with the NGO Centro da Criança e do Adolescente (CCA) in Itaquera, a community center aimed at offering activities to strengthen bonds among children, adolescents, and families, to host all 36 children from the organization at its headquarters in São Paulo to introduce them to professions and new perspectives on working in technology, marketing, and human resources.
The project, called ‘Conecta – Jornada das profissões’ (Connect – Career Journey), brought together 36 underprivileged children aged 10 to 14 to learn more about the technology market. The presentation was entirely playful to capture the children’s attention and teach them in an easy and light manner, focusing on three areas: information security, connectivity, and IT in general. The children visited sessions on HR, marketing, IT, information security, and consulting. Additionally, the youngsters had time to have fun in the MakeOne Arena, the company’s decompression and gaming space.
For Adriana Muniz, Head of People, Culture, and Performance at MakeOne, contributing to the professional journey of underprivileged children is extremely important for the company. ‘We were very happy to carry out a project like this and have the opportunity to give back to society as a company. Moreover, within the NGO’s group of youngsters, we were able to identify talents, and our employees who volunteered to participate on the day gave a computer to a child who showed great interest and potential in the field,’ commented the executive.
‘The project was extremely important because the children had never visited a company before, and the interaction they had with professionals in their respective roles, in well-equipped and prepared rooms with tailored materials for each group, along with the dynamic way of explaining each profession, was a great experience for these young people. It happened at a delicate time for CCA, which is closed and unable to serve the children due to a lack of funding,’ explained Cristiane da Silva Souza, services manager at NGO CCA. ‘In 29 years of working within the same organization, I had never experienced or witnessed such an important moment for children at an age of small decisions, like who they want to be and which paths they want to follow. Learning about professions and discovering new skills is essential at this stage,’ Cristiane added.
To ensure the children’s development continued at home, MakeOne distributed booklets to the youngsters and another booklet for parents about digital security and other topics covered during the event. The company plans to continue carrying out similar projects with other NGOs to reach and transform the lives of as many children as possible, always focusing on the professional development of underprivileged youth. The next edition of ‘Conecta – Jornada das profissões’ is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2025.
‘This event is an action that encompasses the ‘S’ (Social) pillar in the ESG concept. We are focused on contributing to society, as the initiative aims to spark interest in career options beyond their current context among the NGO’s children, encouraging them to dream and consider opportunities that once seemed distant, strengthening our commitment to the community,’ concludes Adriana Muniz.
