ID Logistics, a European multinational contract logistics company, has developed a system that speeds up an important part of the logistics process, giving truck drivers more autonomy in delivering and picking up cargo at distribution centers. The initiative is already in operation, and plans are underway to expand it to other regions of the country where the operator is present.
The tool, named Easy Check-in, created by ID Logistics Brazil, improved communication in interactions with carriers, avoiding manual and repetitive processes, as well as queues to facilitate warehouse entry and exit documentation. The system sped up this stage by 40%.
“At ID Logistics, innovation goes hand in hand with operational efficiency and the well-being of our employees. In this case, we are focusing on drivers, who are essential in the logistics chain. With Easy Check-in, the process is digital and autonomous, with self-service kiosks, automated safety instructions, and real-time monitoring via informative screens and SMS,” says Bruno Giácomo, Continuous Improvement Manager.
In the traditional process, the driver had to go to two service counters, one at the property entrance and another in the shipping department. For this, they waited in lines for the availability of attendants.
Easy Checkin is a digitalization solution that connects to the cargo database, where the driver completes the warehouse entry process to perform unloading or pickup. They enter the information into self-service kiosks, receive their entry confirmation, and safety instructions.
Then, they receive information about the cargo status through informative monitors, including SMS to their phones. All this reduces the driver’s contact with warehouse attendants, bringing more speed and productivity to the process.
