A Internship Company, a leader in the recruitment and selection of interns, trainees, and young apprentices, announces, for the tenth consecutive year, the 2025 Internship Stipend Guide, with data revealing the average payments to students for internship opportunities in different regions of the country, fields of study, and economic sectors. The survey exclusively considers the company’s internal database, with job openings managed throughout 2024 and 2025, covering small to large companies across Brazil.
The data shows that the Southeast remains the region with the highest average stipend in the country, reaching R$2,074.05 in 2025, reflecting a growth of 5.90% compared to the previous year. This value reflects the economic profile of the region, which concentrates a significant portion of the country’s corporate opportunities. However, the Northeast stands out with an average stipend of R$1,592.88 and annual growth of 4.60%, nearly tying with the South (R$1,599.69). The Central-West saw a slight decline of 0.34%, with an average stipend of R$1,544.63, while the North recorded a 5.07% growth, averaging R$1,461.53.
The stipend is paid to students engaged in non-mandatory internships, meaning those outside the required hours for graduation in certain degree programs. According to Brazil’s Internship Law (No. 11,788/08), there is no fixed stipulated amount for this compensation, meaning values can vary significantly based on the course, region, and the company’s sector.
CEO and founder of Internship Company, Tiago Mavichian comments on the importance of the survey: ‘This guide is crucial for companies to understand market standards, helping define talent attraction and retention strategies. Although young professionals prioritize learning and development, compensation and benefits follow closely among their decision factors. For students, this material serves as a reference to analyze which fields offer better pay across regions, helping them assess whether their stipend aligns with the market average.’
Financial market and technology sector
From an economic sector perspective, the highest stipends are offered in finance and technology. Financial firms lead with an average of R$2,926.07, followed by consulting (R$2,850.38), investment banking (R$2,587.58), and tech companies (R$2,392.00). At the lower end are sectors like fashion (R$1,400.00), metallurgy (R$1,609.52), and services (R$1,655.41), with comparatively lower values.
Regarding specific degree programs, nursing stands out as one with the highest stipend growth. Starting at an average of R$1,584.78, the stipend increases to R$2,384.78 by the final years, reflecting 51% growth. Although traditional fields like Law, Civil Engineering, Economics, and Communication remain popular among degree choices, their stipend values stay below technical and administrative fields.
Technology and industry-focused courses lead stipends in vocational education
Similarly, vocational courses in industry and technology offer the highest stipends, such as Industrial Automation (R$1,425.40), Environmental Studies (R$1,400.00), Mechatronics (R$1,333.46), and Electrical Electronics (R$1,456.83). However, in vocational education, IT (R$1,194.79), Nursing (R$1,190.53), and Logistics (R$1,111.69) lead the average stipends.
On the other hand, courses such as Pharmacy Technician (R$676.24), Administrative Assistance (R$750.00), and Nutrition (R$950.00) show the lowest values—a difference exceeding R$700 compared to the highest-paying fields. This disparity may impact student retention in vocational education.
