Havan is warning the public about a new scam circulating on social media that has already generated hundreds of reports in just the first days of June. Criminals are using the image of businessman Luciano Hang and the 39 years of the retail chain to commit fraud.
The scam offers a supposed promotion of security cameras, following a ‘buy one, get one’ model. To make the fraud more convincing, scammers use Artificial Intelligence to clone Luciano Hang’s voice and create fake videos.
However, there are clear signs that this is a scam. One of them is that, in the audio, the word ‘Havan’ is mispronounced as ‘Ravan.’ Additionally, the voice does not match the businessman’s, and the mouth movements in the videos do not sync with what is being said.
“As the saying goes: when the handout is too good, even the saint becomes suspicious. Always be wary of extravagant promotions. Check if this information is actually on our official channels. Pay attention to the details. No one is immune to these scams,” warns Luciano Hang.
The businessman emphasizes that unfortunately, this type of crime has become increasingly sophisticated with the use of Artificial Intelligence. “We have taken all appropriate legal measures and have already obtained court rulings against platforms like Google and Meta for the removal of fake content. Even so, scams keep appearing, requiring constant vigilance from the public,” he reinforces.
