From Brazil! Dating app for open-minded couples and singles grows 43% and expands to the US

The app Ysos, specialized in connecting single people or those in unconventional relationships interested in fulfilling fantasies, ended 2024 with significant growth. Registrations increased by 10.5%, while revenue jumped an impressive 43%. Additionally, the company strengthened its international presence, particularly in the North American market, where it completed its first year  of operations.

According to Gustavo Ferreira, Ysos’s head of marketing, “the growth reflects a younger, more open audience willing to explore new forms of interaction, challenging stigmas around sexuality and relationships.”

Ysos’s annual report revealed important changes in its user demographics. In terms of gender, the most notable growth was among women on the platform, rising from 14.19% in 2023 to 18.01% in 2024. “He/she” couples remain the majority at 49%, remaining practically unchanged from the previous year.

In the age distribution, there was a noticeable rejuvenation among users. Those aged 18–24 increased from 10.6% to 13.78%, while those aged 25–34 also grew from 20.50% to 21.84%. Despite a decline in the 35–44 age group (though still the majority at 42.90%, down from 48.51% in 2023), groups aged 45+ saw moderate growth.

For Gustavo Ferreira, the age distribution of the app’s users was one of the most notable highlights of 2024. “We observed a certain rejuvenation of the audience—who, regardless of sexual activity (as research has shown younger generations are less interested in sex than previous ones)—is more open to unconventional interactions and relationships in a more fluid way,” he analyzed.

Regional Growth

Brazil remains Ysos’s primary market, with notable acceleration in certain regions. Below are the key regional and state highlights:

  • North: Acre (117.08%) and Pará (23.09%) stood out.
  • Northeast: Bahia (12.04%) and Maranhão (18.36%) led the growth.
  • Central-West: Goiás grew by 14.21%.
  • Southeast: São Paulo remained on top with 18.16%, followed by Rio de Janeiro (16.15%).
  • Sul: Santa Catarina impressed with 27.01%, followed by Rio Grande do Sul (18.17%).

The data shows the app has strengthened its presence across nearly all Brazilian states, even in smaller markets.

International Expansion and Tech Updates

Gustavo also highlighted the importance of the app’s redesign, which brought significant improvements. “With the refactoring, our users now benefit from more efficient technology tailored to each operating system, continuing to provide a reliable—and now smoother—experience for everyone.”

2024 also marked Ysos’s global expansion, with the U.S. market showing strong adoption of the platform. Though still a developing market, the company already sees trends similar to Brazil, with a diverse user base and growing interest in unconventional relationships.

Gustavo believes the consistent growth, consolidation of new markets, and an innovative approach position Ysos as one of the most influential platforms in the unconventional relationship segment. “Our expectation for 2025 is to maintain momentum and further expand our global presence. We’re working on our next launch into new countries,” he concluded.
