Equifax BoaVista data shows a 7.34% increase in fraud attempts in May 2025 compared to April of the same year. During this period, there was stability in the average fraud attempt ticket, which was R$1,788, and in the fraud rate (4%), a value representing the proportion of fraud cases relative to the total volume of transactions conducted.
According to the study, the values followed the increase in the volume of suspicions and fraud cases. There was a 6.8% growth in the value of orders analyzed under suspicion; 8% in orders approved after analysis; and 2% in the value of blocked fraud attempts.
Equifax BoaVista also indicates that there was a 7.56% increase in approved cases and, at a slower pace, a 2% increase in blocking fraudulent transactions. The average ticket for the total volume of fraud suspicions was R$460.46, and for purchases approved after analysis, it was R$407.82.
Another finding from the research refers to the days of the week with the highest fraud records: Thursday (16.3%) and Friday (17%). Meanwhile, Sunday had the lowest rate (10.7%).
According to Rogério Signorini, Vice President of Products and Pre-Sales at Equifax BoaVista, “the information reveals that fraudsters seek to mimic daily consumption patterns but focus on high-value transactions, where the financial impact per item is greater for e-commerce. For this reason, we emphasize the relevance of anti-fraud tactics and tools to reduce operational risks.”
