eComex launches AI solution for international logistics with predictive insights for cargo consolidation, cost reduction, and carbon footprint reduction

eComex, a pioneering Brazilian company in the market for technology solutions for management, optimization, and automation of foreign trade and international logistics operations, announces the launch of Shipping Proposition, an intelligence solution for import logistics. It generates automated suggestions for consolidating cargo shipments, eliminating the need for manual analysis, thereby reducing decision-making time, minimizing losses, optimizing import processes, and, most importantly, helping to reduce the carbon footprint.

Currently, international cargo transport is among the largest contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide, significantly contributing to these emissions. With the expansion of global trade and increasing demands for faster deliveries, these figures are expected to continue rising.

With this in mind, Shipping Proposition uses AI to analyze available cargo for shipment and suggests possible consolidations. This not only significantly reduces freight costs but also optimizes routes and potentially decreases the carbon footprint.

“Creating more efficient routes to reduce travel time and distance, grouping shipments, and better utilizing available cargo capacity is both a responsibility and a major challenge for Brazil,” explains André Barros, CEO of eComex.

Brazilian Scenario

According to data from the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI), Brazil ranks 51st out of 139 countries in terms of logistics efficiency.

“Currently, one of the main challenges faced by companies with foreign trade (Comex) processes in Brazil is the lack of robust technology to help executives not only manage potential disruptions in their supply chains but also make more assertive decisions. That’s why we developed Shipping Proposition—a solution that analyzes operational history to learn from past mistakes and, in this way, better orchestrate the future,” explains the CEO.

How it Works

Acting proactively, Shipping Proposition, represented by the AI robot ‘PopAI,’ receives documentation for cargo ready at the exporter (invoice and packing list) in PDFs or scanned shipment images. It identifies what is being transported, and the AI analyzes the data to create a shipment proposal.

Based on this automated analysis, the solution generates an optimized shipping instruction in seconds, significantly reducing waste and suggesting insights for process improvements and optimization, such as more economical grouping suggestions, container space organization, and more effective shipments.

In the solution’s pilot project, a single eComex customer achieved savings of R$7 million in the first year of use.

Given this scenario, logistics intelligence solutions like Shipping Proposition can transform how industries handle their foreign trade (Comex) operations, generating significant gains,” emphasizes Barros.

Additional Benefits

Since many companies in Foreign Trade have different departments handling import and export processes, another benefit of Shipping Proposition is communication integration, which aims to group distinct processes, consolidating shipments that would otherwise be handled separately, reducing potential waste.

“Communication between different departments is not always effective, which can result, for example, in duplicated logistics processes. This means two departments may import materials from the same region or even the same supplier without knowing they are using the same port of origin and the same ship departure window,” explains Barros.

Given this scenario, besides offering a more efficient operational model, the solution also helps the operations team save time, freeing Comex professionals to focus on more strategic tasks with higher added value.

“The elimination of bureaucratic processes, along with cost reduction and faster task execution in industries, should help Brazil gain even more strength in this essential economic sector,” concludes the executive.
