Aftershoot launches early its new AI-powered portrait editing tool, the AI Retouch, which helps photographers apply realistic, high-quality adjustments to images. With unlimited selection and editing features available on the platform, this new functionality – previously restricted to a select group of users – is now available for free to all professionals until September 2025.
The AI tool was developed to simplify one of the most time-consuming steps in post-production: portrait retouching. This feature handles tasks such as skin texture correction, blemish removal, glare reduction on glasses, and removing unwanted objects. By significantly reducing the time spent on retouching, photographers can deliver high-quality work faster and use their offline time to focus on creativity, personal life, client relationships, and business growth.
According to a 2025 survey conducted by Aftershoot, about 63% of Brazilian photographers already use AI tools in their workflow. Among the professionals surveyed, 85% said image editing is the primary stage where AI can speed up the process and save time, and 77% stated they would prefer to use this extra time for family, friends, and personal hobbies.

- Facial Enhancement: identifies and enhances specific facial areas, reduces excessive shine, and sharpens the eyes.
- Glare Removal on Glasses: eliminates reflections while precisely reconstructing eye and facial details.
- Stray Hair Removal: removes misplaced hair strands without altering hair volume or style.
- Teeth Whitening & Brightening: enhances teeth’s natural shine, with a realistic appearance and no exaggeration.
- Object Removal: using the Patch tool, a corrective feature, professionals can seamlessly remove unwanted objects without compromising image details.
- Selective Retouching by Person: allows applying adjustments to specific individuals in a photo, ensuring personalized edits tailored to each person.
- Customizable Presets: users can save editing preferences or use Aftershoot’s ready-made presets to maintain stylistic consistency.

AI Retouch seamlessly integrates into Aftershoot’s workflow, enabling efficient image selection, editing, and enhancement. The new feature will be available unlimited and free for all users until September 2025. After this period, it will be included in select platform plans — more details coming soon.
For optimal performance, simply export edited images (from Aftershoot, Lightroom, or Capture One) and reimport them into the platform to apply adjustments. The tool supports JPEG and TIFF files for both import and export.
