After adjustment, iFood announces new package of improvements for delivery workers

Following the recent adjustment of the minimum delivery rate, iFood announces a new package of benefits for partner delivery drivers on the platform. Focusing on financial predictability and improving work routines, the new package introduces innovations in three main areas: fee-free advance payments, destination-selected routes, and a rewards program for high-performing drivers.

Starting in July, iFood drivers will be able to advance their payments without any fees. Currently, payments are made weekly, but with the new feature, it will be possible to request an advance directly through the app and receive the funds on the same day. This is an exclusive benefit in the sector, available for the most frequent app users, ensuring greater liquidity and financial control.

In the second initiative, iFood announces the planning of destination-selected routes. With this feature, which will be tested starting August, drivers will be able to choose the area they want to go to during deliveries, optimizing travel and facilitating journey organization, such as returning home, for example.

“The destination route was requested by the drivers themselves, who raised this concern in our feedback channels. The suggestion was taken to the technology team, and now the improvement will be implemented nationwide by the end of the year. Since 2021, iFood has maintained continuous listening forums with the category. Another example is the rewards program, which originated in one of our working groups with drivers,” says Johnny Borges, Director of Social Impact at iFood.

Rewards program

In addition to fee-free advances and the new route-planning feature, iFood is launching Super Drivers—the first sector rewards program in Brazil. The initiative was created to recognize and reward drivers more engaged with the platform, highlighting professionals who excel in operations. Key benefits include:

  • Extra earnings: Drivers who achieve Gold or Diamond categories gain access to exclusive promotions and missions, with estimated earnings up to 30% above the base average. Additionally, they accumulate badges that can be exchanged for credits in the Driver Store, with an annual cash bonus of up to R$3,000.
  • Exclusive benefits: discounts and free services for essential items like vehicle maintenance and cell phone plans.
  • Experiences: participation in prize draws for items like motorcycles, helmets, and tickets to shows and movies.

The Rewards Program debut is scheduled for July, starting in São Paulo, with plans to expand to other regions soon.

“Delivery drivers are a fundamental part of the iFood ecosystem. Valuing them means, above all, recognizing the essential role they play in the daily lives of millions of Brazilians. We continuously listen and invest in solutions that generate more earnings, more comfort, and more predictability for those who choose iFood to maximize their income,” says Johnny.

How much do iFood drivers earn?

In March 2025, iFood reached a milestone of 400,000 active delivery drivers on the platform, representing a 40% increase compared to 2024.

With over 120 million monthly orders and more than 400,000 partner merchants, drivers working with iFood earn an average of R$12 per route during weekends. Additionally, no motorcycle driver earns less than R$7.50 per route, regardless of the day, time, or region, even for the shortest routes. There are also no commissions or platform usage fees, and customer tips are passed on in full.

According to the iFood Data Portal, the average gross earnings per hour worked on the platform in 2024 was R$28. “Considering this value, a professional who delivers 3 hours per day on iFood earns a gross income above R$2,500 per month. This is the most common profile among platform drivers—those who choose iFood to supplement their income. The average earnings for more engaged workers (with over 180 hours worked per month) is R$28.60 per hour from deliveries. A worker with this profile and a 44-hour workweek, earns a gross monthly income above R$5,000,” explains Johnny Borges.

With the launch of a new package of improvements, iFood strengthens its leadership position in the sector by continuing to listen to and address the demands of drivers. The platform stands out as the app that generates the most orders for drivers in Brazil and consolidates itself as offering the best earnings in the category. This reach results from consistent efforts, focusing on technology, logistics, and user experience.
