“We were very excited about the results obtained with the realization of the 1st edition of the Experience Expo, because in addition to the business generated between companies in our sector, we were able to directly analyze and verify how events can contribute to the goal of being zero carbon in the coming years”, he celebrates Paulo Ventura, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBRAFE.

With an expectation of reaching 55 exhibiting brands in the first edition of the event, EEX recorded a total of 65 exhibiting brands, a number above the planned one. EEX brought a milestone at an event reference in sustainability, becoming a model event for other events in the sector. During the congress, the Kai Hattendorf Executive reinforced the importance of the commitment to the environment by reducing the carbon footprint to zero, inviting the sector to reflect deeply on an important and urgent topic of today. Kai Hattendorf also celebrated the joint signature of 33 Brazilian companies, all of them associated with Ubrafe, in the global commitment that all events should be carbon neutral in the coming years. Today in the world, more than 700 companies and organizations in the event sector have already made this commitment. Among several actions that focused on sustainability, the event prioritized signaling and communication in a digital way, the use of carpet made from recycled PET bottles, the reduction of the use of single-use plastic, the use of natural fibers in the uniforms of the event support team, in addition to having presented technological innovations such as the simultaneous translation of the lectures through artificial intelligence, as well as the mitigation of all the CO2 emissions associated with the transport of all the materials used, and the displacement of visitors to the event, in partnership with Carbá B.

The 2,800 badges issued to the visitors were produced with paper that contains arugula seeds. Each badge has an average of 10 arugula seeds, so if all are planted, a total of 28,000 arugula plants will be generated, a number equivalent to the volume sold in almost 1 day of sale of vegetables at Ceagesp in São Paulo.

The first edition of EEX also recorded a total of 1,950 liters of water distributed free of charge to all participants on a hydration island, in recycled paper cups, equivalent to 3,900 500 ml bottles, which if stacked, would correspond to a 268-story building. The recycled paper cups were sent to recycling after the event, counting zero waste destined for dumps.

“A lot is said about the role of face-to-face events in a decarbonized society, but companies in the sector, in addition to understanding this goal, needed to know in practice how all this theory can and should be applied on a daily basis, and during the Experience Expo we were able to demonstrate and discuss in depth several of the commitments that the sector is assuming in this sense” he concludes. Paulo Octávio Pereira de Almeida (P.O.)  Executive Director of UBRAFE.
