This Wednesday’s Show Business program, February 19th, features an exclusive interview with Diego Barreto, CEO of iFood. Hosted by Bruno Meyer, this episode promises an enriching conversation about the technology market, innovation in the delivery sector, and iFood’s strategic vision for the coming years.
If iFood were to disappear from Brazil overnight, the national GDP would be impacted by 0.55%, according to a study conducted by FIPE. That’s nearly R$ 3 billion converted into gross income per year for thousands of delivery workers.
Barreto also reveals why the app recently hit 100 million orders in a single month and when it will celebrate 200 million orders per month. “We’ll hit 200 million orders per month sooner than expected”, says the CEO.
Barreto explains how the company transitioned from being a technology company to focusing – even before ChatGPT – on being an artificial intelligence hub, with internally developed AI models that identify, for example, which route is better for bicycles or motorcycles. iFood’s AI models, created by the company’s professionals, make 2 billion predictions per month and anticipate operational needs for events that are a national passion – football. On days of classic matches like Flamengo vs. Corinthians, or when Neymar plays for Santos, the platform knows the supply of delivery workers drops – because they also watch the game – and thus, the company proactively communicates with delivery workers, generally increasing their compensation to ensure availability on special days.
Show Business is one of the most traditional interview programs focused on the business and economic world, bringing great leaders to discuss relevant market topics. With a dynamic and informative approach, the program has established itself as a benchmark in Brazilian business journalism.
The program can be followed on TV Jovem Pan News, on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel, on Panflix, and on major FAST Channels, including Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, TCL, and Vidaa TV.
