Online shopping has changed consumers’ lives. With easy access to products and very attractive prices, Brazilian e-commerce keeps breaking records. According to a Nielsen IQ study, a company specialized in consumer intelligence, the sector closed 2023 with revenues exceeding R$ 250 billion.
Trying to ride this wave, former sales manager Fábio Luongo created Namboo in 2022, Brazil’s first marketplace franchise. The business idea came from a family challenge. Luongo noticed his stepson watched videos teaching how to become a millionaire without studying. He then proposed a game to the boy: they would open a business license (CNPJ) together and try selling products online within a set timeframe.
Soon after, without results, the boy lost interest. But Luongo didn’t. The challenge stirred his ambition, and he decided to heavily invest in e-commerce. It worked so well that a year and a half later, he left his sales manager position at a major company to focus entirely on his venture.
To grow faster and sustainably, Luongo decided to partner with his friend Fred Vanitelli, a franchise specialist who was responsible for structuring the company. They started importing products in bulk and offering them to franchisees at competitive prices, which would increase profit margins.
Warehouse and inventory? Not needed
Namboo’s logistics management includes handling the entire product shipment process, from importation to storage and inventory formation. The franchisee purchases products in advance from the franchisor, who takes responsibility for custody and subsequent shipping of goods.
This franchise model is highly attractive due to low operational costs (no physical store or employees needed), high profit margins, and a quick return on investment – around six months. No wonder some of the brand’s 12 locations are already generating over R$150 thousand per month.
‘The forecast for this year is to reach 15 operating units and, by 2025, 60. Our goal is to become one of the largest franchise networks in the country in the coming years.’
