Importing from China: High-Demand Products for Resale in Brazil

China has maintained its position as Brazil’s main trading partner since 2009, being the largest exporter and importer to the country. In 2023, Brazil imported over US$ 53 billion in Chinese products, representing about 22.1% of all imports made in the national territory. Data provided by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC) and by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) reinforce this trend. But, after all, what are the most promising products to import from China and resell in Brazil?

Rogério Marin, an expert in foreign trade, director of Tek Trade company, and president of the Foreign Trade Companies Union of SC, points out that there is a growing demand for computer products, drones, technologies, toys, and pet articles. However, he warns that this can be a profitable opportunity only if the entrepreneur has a deep knowledge of the sector in which he is investing.

Technology and Information

China is a global leader in technology and electronics production, consolidating these items as some of the most promising for import in 2024. Products such as computer accessories, drones, and virtual reality devices are among the most sought after. The constant innovation and improvement in the quality of Chinese electronics, combined with competitive prices, provide an attractive profit margin for importers.

Toys and Games

The toys and games market also presents lucrative opportunities. China is a major producer of these items, ranging from innovative and educational toys to board games and remote-control toys. When importing these products, it is essential to strictly adhere to safety standards and regulations. Tek Trade, for example, operates in compliance with the guidelines of the National Institute of Metrology (Inmetro).

Pet Articles

The pet market has shown steady growth over the years, with an expansion of about 316% in the last six years, according to the Pet Brazil Institute (IPB). With the increasing demand, the sale of pet articles represents an excellent opportunity, whether in wholesale or retail. In this context, importing can become a great ally to boost the business.

“Importing from China is an excellent alternative to meet the demand for products that are not produced on a large scale in Brazil or to bring innovations that are not yet available in the national market. However, it is important to emphasize that this will never replace the national product. The imported item can become a great business, provided that the entrepreneur has a deep knowledge of the segment. It is not possible to generate profitability in something you do not dominate. In addition, it is essential to have the support of a company specialized in foreign trade, which will take care of the entire process efficiently and safely”, highlights Rogério Marin.
