YouTube announced today the expansion of its commerce ecosystem in Brazil with the official integration of two of the country's largest marketplaces retailers: Mercado Livre and Shopee . This new feature allows content creators to tag products from both retailers' catalogs directly in their videos, live streams, posts, and Shorts, facilitating the purchasing journey for millions of viewers.
The integration is part of the official launch of the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program in Brazil, announced recently during the global “Made on YouTube” event. With this feature, eligible creators can display products in their streams and videos, earning commissions on the sales they generate, strengthening the connection between discovery and purchase. The country is a priority market for the platform's commerce solutions, which globally already has over 500,000 creators affiliated with YouTube Shopping.
“The arrival of the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program in Brazil is a significant milestone, as the country has one of the most vibrant creator ecosystems in the world,” stated Clarissa Orberg, Head of Partnerships at YouTube..
“We are offering Brazilian YouTubers new ways to strengthen their communities and monetize their creativity. In 2024 alone, YouTube contributed R$94 billion to the national GDP. The integration of Mercado Livre and Shopee as our first partners further amplifies this creator economy we are developing,” they celebrated.
“Shopee is committed to providing experiences that generate engagement for both sellers and consumers. With the expansion of YouTube Shopping to Brazil, we are excited to help Brazilian sellers connect with more creators and thus boost their sales. This collaboration also opens opportunities for the over 5 million participants in our Creator and Affiliate Program to monetize their content while promoting products that resonate with their audiences. We remain steadfast in our mission to empower sellers and creators to thrive as the digital economy grows,” said Felipe Piringer, Head of Marketing at Shopee.
“The arrival of YouTube Shopping in Brazil marks a new chapter for digital commerce, and Mercado Livre is proud to be one of the partners in this launch. Our strength as a marketplace, with a broad and qualified assortment, presence of major brands, security, and the fastest delivery in the country, ensures that affiliates and creators have the best conditions to generate income with confidence. The 31% growth in our program last quarter and the most competitive rewards in the market reinforce our commitment to the Creator Economy, in supporting new talent and driving sustainable online entrepreneurship models,” stated Renata Gerez, Head of Social Commerce at Mercado Livre.
With this functionality, viewers can browse products highlighted by their favorite creators directly on the video screen and click to be redirected to the Mercado Livre or Shopee website to complete their purchase.
