Amazon exceeds R$ 55 billion in investments in Brazil over a decade

Brazil, considered one of the priorities in Amazon’s global expansion plans, has received over R$55 billion in investments from the company in the last decade. This amount represents approximately R$15 million per day over the past 10 years. With investments in logistics, local technology development, cloud services, job creation and professional training, entrepreneurship support, and initiatives focused on local communities, these figures are part of the new edition of Amazon’s economic impact report, retail services, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Brazil, which highlights the company’s consistent growth and expansion in the country.

In a continuous expansion effort, the company has doubled its job creation in recent years, increasing from 18,000 to 36,000 direct and indirect jobs generated through its commercial activities in Brazil. These positions span various strategic sectors of the national economic chain, such as logistics, information technology, and entertainment. Maintaining its growth pace while driving the country’s development, in the first half of 2025 alone, Amazon has already hired over 1,000 professionals for corporate and tech roles in Brazil, in addition to currently having more than 550 open positions in these sectors.

“By investing over R$55 billion in the last decade and creating 36,000 jobs, we reinforce our ongoing commitment to Brazil. We aren’t just expanding our local presence but also contributing to transforming the country’s economic and technological landscape. Each investment is designed to generate a lasting positive impact across various segments—whether by creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, or promoting technological innovation. We are committed to being a catalyst for the country’s growth, working hand in hand with local entrepreneurs, communities, and partners to build an increasingly strong, digital, and inclusive economy,” says Juliana Sztrajtman, President of Amazon.com.br.

With over 25 years of experience and a pioneer in artificial intelligence (AI), technology has always been part of Amazon’s DNA. Customer-centric and applied across its diverse business fronts, Amazon has reinvented consumer experiences through technology, driving innovation and empowering thousands of people and businesses worldwide.

“Our growth strategy in Brazil is focused on generating a positive impact across the country and through our different businesses. We recognize the responsibility that comes with our broad global and national scale, and we are committed to continuing to innovate and contribute to Brazil’s technological development, daily working on solutions that benefit our teams, customers, and local partners,” says Cleber Morais, General Manager of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Brazil.

Since 2011, Amazon has significantly expanded its physical and digital infrastructure in Brazil. Over the last 18 months, 140 new Amazon-operated hubs were opened, totaling 200 logistics hubs strategically distributed across all regions of Brazil, alongside the expansion of the FBA – Amazon Logistics program, which will cover all its Distribution Centers. This infrastructure enables increasingly faster and safer deliveries and an even more convenient shopping experience for our customers in 100% of municipalities, delivering over 150 million products across 50 retail and marketplace categories.

In addition to product deliveries, Amazon operates in multiple business fronts in Brazil, ranging from subscription services (Amazon Prime and Kindle Unlimited), technology (AWS), entertainment (Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Amazon Publishing) to its own product lines (Alexa, Kindle, Echo, and Fire TV).

Prime Video’s commitment to Brazilian culture is reflected in impressive numbers: since 2019, 46 local original productions have been released or are in production, filmed in over 10 different states across the country. A striking example of this commitment to Brazilian cultural diversity is ‘Cangaço Novo.’ The series, filmed in the Cariri region of Paraíba, predominantly features local talent both in front of and behind the cameras. The choice of professionals from Paraíba and other Northeastern states reflects Prime Video’s commitment to strengthening the regional audiovisual industry and creating authentic narratives that genuinely represent Brazil’s cultural richness.”

“With an exclusive focus on the customer and always striving to understand their needs, Prime Video is a content aggregator that offers Prime Members a wide variety of global titles, local productions, and live sports, connecting with diverse audiences. Beyond the vast catalog included in the subscription, Prime Video also provides the convenience of renting or purchasing new theatrical releases and offers subscriptions to other streaming channels—all in one place,” says Louise Faleiros, Country Manager, Prime Video Brazil.
