Half of the executives are not on Linkedin: what are the risks?

Being disconnected in the face of an increasingly digital market may seem unlikely, but it is the reality for half of executives. Recent data released in a survey by FGV identified that 45% of CEOs are not on LinkedIn, the social network with the highest presence of C-suite executives with professional profiles – which is extremely detrimental to future opportunities and positive career progression.

According to the study, only 5% of the analyzed CEOs are highly active on LinkedIn, with more than 75 annual posts. The others end up appearing sporadically on the social network, something that can certainly compromise their visibility and attractiveness for better positions. After all, this platform is now considered one of the largest global market showcases, functioning as a constantly updated worldwide database, optimizing and streamlining the recruitment of professionals.

In terms of employability, the social network acts as an active resume, where it is not necessarily required to make frequent posts about topics in your field, but where it is necessary to highlight your experiences, major achievements, and professional goals. Those who are not seen there will hardly be noticed by recruiters who use the platform to search for candidates suitable for a specific job vacancy.

LinkedIn itself shared that 65% of Brazilian users use the network to apply for jobs, besides being considered, by a quarter of the national population, the main tool of the market for this purpose. Therefore, it is strategic for executives to keep their resumes updated on the network, to catch the attention of recruiters and stand out for opportunities that bring them greater achievements in their career advancement.

A good resume on this network needs to be constantly updated, highlighting not only the positions you have held and the correct dates of how long you stayed in each one, but also what your major and best deliverables were, emphasizing your career projections and the path you are building for it. This information should be consistent with professional aspirations, avoiding frustrations when applying for positions for which you do not have the necessary experiences or skills to fill.

Ensure that your profile is complete and coherent with your trajectory and desired goals, so that when recruiters search for talents that fit the bill, they can find your page through keywords related to what is included in your resume. After all, proven experience will be crucial in the analysis of the sought competencies and in the assessment of the compatibility between the company and the candidate in question.

But instead of just waiting for these contacts, a good professional is proactive in pursuing their career desires. They should go after positions that they consider relevant to their goals and apply, not wait for them to come to them. This is a behavior that will certainly bring an attractive differential to your prominence and chances of securing the job offered.

If, even with these care, you do not see any return or positive call, the best course of action is to seek guidance from a specialized consultancy that can identify the problem and help you stand out for future opportunities. Opportunities will not be lacking in this network that is growing more and more in the market, which cannot be neglected by those who aim for an even greater highlight in their careers.
