Koin, a fintech focused on fraud prevention and payment solutions, such as Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL), announces its entry into the Merchant Risk Council (MRC). At the same time, Dieter Spangenberg, Chief of Payment and Fraud at Koin, joins the MRC LATAM Board.
The appointment positions the executive as one of the industry’s key figures and places Koin as a protagonist in the market, focusing on building a more agile, secure, and innovative sector, as well as consolidating its presence in high-impact strategic forums.
The executive, who has been involved in the entity’s initiatives since 2010, emphasized the significance of the moment. ‘The experience at MRC has completely transformed the way I see the payment and fraud prevention market. MRC facilitates high-level discussions, redefining how companies tackle challenges and seize opportunities in these areas, resulting in tangible impacts on operations, with up to 5 times higher fraud performance than non-member companies. With around 30 million transactions analyzed annually and operations in over six countries, Koin is a leader in fraud prevention in Latin America. As a member of the MRC Board, the executive will also share fintech experiences on the digital commerce ecosystem and best practices to prevent fraud and maximize sales conversion.
