The Behavioral Risk Research Institute (IPRC Brazil) recently released the book "Sweet Poison," a work that delves into the minds of confessed Brazilian fraudsters and harassers. The book, based on more than 5,500 investigative interviews with confessed offenders, offers a unique insight into the motivations behind cases of fraud, corruption, and harassment in the corporate environment.
The publication, signed by behavioral risk specialists, combines elements of fiction with real stories, creating what the authors call a "Compliance Novel." Renato Santos, PhD in Administration and spokesperson for the collection, explains: "This style of narration illustrates the principles of compliance with an organization's internal rules and policies, providing entertainment while teaching and inspiring essential reflections."
The book features six fictional characters inspired by real cases, exploring their dilemmas and the consequences of their choices. Among them are Fabrício, led by ambition down a dangerous path, and Larissa, who gives in to pressure in a moment of vulnerability.
The launch comes at a critical time, with the Brazilian labor market registering a 74% increase in reports of moral harassment between 2022 and 2023, and a growth in cases of misappropriation from 19% to 22% during the pandemic.
"Sweet Poison" is the second publication in the "Seeds of Risk" trilogy and aims to promote reflection on the factors that can turn the work environment into fertile ground for moral slips. The book is available for R$ 59.90 at major bookstores and online platforms.
This publication comes at an opportune time, offering valuable insights for companies and professionals interested in understanding and preventing unethical behavior in the corporate environment.
