Event brings together 100 leaders from the technology sector to relate philosophy to the business environment

A Scalable, the fintech known as the credit bank for startups, gathered more than 100 industry leaders in technology on day X for a different kind of class. Instead of talking about sales, artificial intelligence, or blockchain, the event "The Empire of Founders" covered leadership lessons from great historical figures such as Aristotle, Alexander the Great, and Julius Caesar.

“We were tired of the same old events, with the same themes and the same speakers. There’s no point in knowing about technology and not mastering the values of leadership, which are timeless. We wanted to do something different for our customers, investors and partners.”explains Marcelo Bragaglia, CEO of Scalable.

Guilherme Freire, philosophy professor, was responsible for giving the lecture. It was an experience I had never seen before, and it certainly caught our guests by surprise. A very wise person once told me that the path to wisdom is to learn from the dead... Well, I think we did that very well.comments Bragaglia.

The event was exclusive and closed to founders, C-level executives, and venture capital fund managers, held at Cubo Itaú, the largest technology complex in Latin America. During the class, participants were able to reflect on how great leaders in history can inspire and bring lessons to the business world.

“The typical startup founder has more in common with Alexander the Great than one might imagine. At the age of 22, he invaded the largest empire in the world with 40,000 men and resources for only 30 days – the Persian Empire –, which was consolidated and had more than 300,000 fighters. The most logical thing would be the opposite, just as the most logical thing would be for the startup to be swallowed up by the incumbent. This was almost impossible, however, it is precisely this term – almost impossible – that defines the virtue of courage. Courage is when we set out to do something that the chances of statistically being successful are minimal, and we do it anyway. In Brazil, 4 out of 5 companies close their doors in the first 3 years, in other words, the statistics are against the entrepreneur – just as they were against Alexander”,Bragaglia analysis.
