The efficiency and quality of manufacturing are closely linked to digitalization, which drives competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation in companies and institutions. Essential agenda for debates, the aspects related to digitalization will be extensively addressed during the event.8th Manufacturing Forum,The main event of the country's sector, which will take place in São Paulo, from August 26 to 27, at the Novotel São Paulo Center Norte. The forum will have as its central theme“AI, predictive and analytical models and people at the center of digitalization, driving Brazilian industry”.
In the opening panel titled “Prospecting, strategic model and operation aligned to ensure safe, balanced and competitive production management”It will be presented as the pharmaceutical segment, regardless of the differences in profiles of national industries, seeking greater efficiency, resource optimization, and competencies to adapt to Industry 4.0. The fourth industrial revolution, characterized by the development of fully interconnected and collaborative systems, utilizing emerging technologies (Big Data, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Digital Twins, and Artificial Intelligence) with the potential to revolutionize the pharmaceutical market, supply chains, and the quality of pharmaceutical products.
"I am confident that digital transformation in our sector will be decisive for sustainable health. It is necessary to focus on digital health, especially on training professionals in technology, system integration, efficient resource allocation, uniting sectors with convergent guidelines, ethical conduct, and compliance with legislation," specifies Shirley Meschke M. Franklin de Oliveira, Senior Executive Legal Director of Brazil & Legal Counsel for Global Access & Value (Ex-US) at Pfizer. According to her, new technologies are changing the roles of partners, clients, and consumers in the pharmaceutical industry, consequently impacting the relationships between organizations in the sector."From the moment industry partners have access to new technologies, they begin to have different demands/needs; it is up to the industry to rethink its business model, that is, the creation, delivery, and capture of value," summarizes Shirley.
In the lecture“Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence”João Maia, AI strategy director at Venturus, a technology solutions developer, will explain why the creation of LLMs has given users a lot of power. LLMs (Large Language Models) are types of artificial intelligence models created to understand and generate text. According to Maia, it is no longer necessary to resort to thousands of tools to capture, understand, and transform data into information. AI reduces bureaucratic tasks and focuses on what matters: creating competitive differentiators. "Understanding how Generative AI works will provide valuable insights into productivity optimization, as well as being an important factor in designing short- and medium-term strategies," explains Maia.
In parallel sessions“Strategic Manufacturing”Luiz Egreja, senior client executive at Dassault Systèmes, will discuss the complexity in industrial operations and the significant increase in the complexity of these operations due to a series of factors involving the supply chain, proliferation of new products, lack of human resources to operate in productive and complex processes. All these situations add to the impact on all company activities, from marketing to Human Resources. "We will emphasize the aspects that impact the manufacturing operations of companies, also assessing other affected areas. To conclude, for each area within manufacturing affected by increased complexity, we will provide some ideas and recommendations based on our experience at Dassault, in order to avoid a negative impact on your operations and finances," says Egreja.
Ariadne Garotti, VP & Managing Director of Efeso, will present the current importance of integrating all links of the end-to-end value chain. In the past, the focus was solely on the factory or industrial processes; however, today the concern is directed from the beginning of the supply chain with a clear definition of the business strategy until the product reaches the customer, in a fully integrated and synchronized manner. "We will also demonstrate how the digital platform can be a great ally in the efficiency of the value chain, bringing agility, real-time data, and the concept of 'less paper' within operations," reiterates Ariadne.
Innovation– In the parallel session “Boosting Order-to-Delivery Excellence”, Rüdiger Leutz, CEO, and Fabrício Sousa, Mobility Partner, both from Porsche Consulting, will present how the Order-to-Delivery is the main cross-functional business process – end-to-end – of a company to meet customer needs more efficiently and flexibly. The interaction between sales, production & logistics, purchasing, finance, and development is essential. However, companies across all sectors face similar challenges with delivery performance. A Porsche Consulting survey showed that 48% of companies would like shorter delivery times, while 19% of customers are dissatisfied with delivery punctuality. At the same time, up to 12% of annual revenue is lost in profits due to internal difficulties and turbulence resulting from inefficiencies in processes. Organizations also complain about decision-making inefficiency among all partners, especially sales, production, and purchasing, explains Leutz.
“Such challenges require companies to adapt to respond to changes in supply and demand. In the lecture, we will focus on the Order-to-Delivery methodology, which allows manufacturing to return to the requirements of flexibility and product customization, through a stable and profitable operational model,” adds Sousa.
The digitization of the industry represents a transformation in the way companies operate and compete globally. This will be the topic of the lecture "Digitalization of production: cases of increased industrial competitiveness through the relationship between ICT and companies”,by Carlos Alberto Fadul Corrêa Alves, executive director of Fundação Certi. "Practical examples of successful projects by the Foundation with companies will be explored, demonstrating how collaboration between Science and Technology Institutions (STI) and industries drives competitiveness through the implementation of Industry 4.0 projects. In conclusion, we aim to show that the digitalization of industry is not just a trend, but a necessity for companies that wish to maintain their competitiveness in the global market. We emphasize that the technological challenge for implementing Industry 4.0 technologies requires robust methodologies, partnership, and collaboration to leverage digital transformation, promoting a more digital and efficient future for the industrial sector," emphasizes Corrêa Alves.
Jean Paulo Silva, COO – Chief Operating Officer at Dexco, will address“How to train, develop and retain talent with digital skills”at the closing of the 8th Manufacturing Forum.According to him, training, developing, and retaining talent with digital skills is crucial for any organization that wants to be competitive and innovative. "For this, we have some challenges that involve mapping the digital skills necessary (or potential) for the company, and identifying talents with the potential to develop these skills. More than access to tools and technologies, professionals with digital skills need to have environments where these can be explored, utilized, and recognized," explains Silva.
The 8th Manufacturing Forum will bring together the leading executives from the sector and related areas, such as consumer goods, aerospace, automotive, food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, textiles, machinery, parts and equipment, paper, processing industries, and process industries. It will also feature the presence of sponsoring companies: Beckhoff, Tetra Pak, Tivit, Dassault Systèmes, Compass Uol, Porsche Consulting, Veolia, Westcon, Sick, Cogtive, Efeso, Venturus, Vockan, St-One, Iniciativa Aplicativos, Comprint, Labsoft, and Vesuvius.
