On December 2nd, CMEC – National Council for Women Entrepreneurs and Culture, a body of CACB, FACESP and ACSP, will promote the 5th Freedom to Entrepreneurship at the Monte Líbano Club, in São Paulo.
The largest female entrepreneurship event in the country will have a schedule of lectures, workshops and panels to talk about management, retail, digital visibility, artificial intelligence, mental health and communication and activities to connect different brands with participants.
For this edition, which is expected to host around 2,000 women entrepreneurs, coordinators of women’s entrepreneurship groups from various municipalities, and opinion leaders, Ana Claudia Badra Cotait, president of CMEC, created a program focused on the main challenges and achievements to inspire the participants. "Today, we have more than 10.3 million women entrepreneurs in Brazil, and the role of CMEC is to train and provide all the support so that these women can develop their skills, connect, and expand their businesses," she adds.
One of the event's attractions will be the lecture "The Discourse of the Obvious," where businesswoman and actress Giovanna Antonelli will give tips to participants on how to achieve personal and professional success. Yes, Felipe Theodoro, advertising professional and influencer, will talk about retail and customer service.
Another highlight will be HOTSEAT led by businesswoman Cris Arcangeli, who will provide strategic mentoring for three participants who, after making pitches to describe their businesses, will present their ideas.
Janaina Ortiga Abi-Ackel, a retail specialist, will present the Retail Lessons panel, mentor Aline Salvi will address the topic Personal Branding: You are your Brand! and Alessandra Andrade, Director of Pateo 76, and Caetano Maffra, CEO of Cuia Tech, will talk about Artificial Intelligence.
There will also be the Inspiring Women and Black Power Panels with entrepreneurs and executives from various companies, complementary workshops given by professionals and representatives from SEBRAE and ABF and the presentation of the CMEC Award to outstanding entrepreneurs.
At the end of the event, participants will take part in a happy hour for networking with activations from various brands.
Female Entrepreneurship in Brazil
According to research by Sebrae/IBGE, in 2023 there were 10.3 million women business owners, corresponding to 34% of the total number of entrepreneurs in the country.
To better detail this reality, the Developing Women Entrepreneurs Project, the result of a partnership between the Confederation of Commercial and Business Associations of Brazil (CACB) with the National Council of Women Entrepreneurs and Culture (CMEC) and Sebrae Nacional, carried out the researchNational Profile of Women Entrepreneursto profile companies run by women and Brazilian female entrepreneurs.
The study points out that:
- 54.2% of the women interviewed are between 40 and 59 years old and 38.3% are between 20 and 39 years old;
- 59.8% are white and 32% are black and brown,
- 78% have children;
- 69.4% are married or in a stable union,
- 39.5% have postgraduate degrees and 29.4% have completed higher education.
Of this total:
- 34.7% of businesses are MEI
- 23.9% micro-enterprises;
- 93% have up to 19 employees
The main areas of activity are:
- beauty (16.7%),
- food (16.3%),
- clothing (15.2%)
- health (14.4%),
- 18.9% work in more than one sector.
