Carriers face an unprecedented wave of internet scams using brand and image

Carriers linked to e-commerce are facing an unprecedented wave of internet fraud attempts by cybercriminals who use the image of companies to request undue payment of additional fees, carry out non-existent sales, and direct users to insecure links.

In these actions, criminals use emails, text messages via WhatsApp, social networks, and fake websites to deceive consumers, simulating official company communications, even misusing the carrier’s logo.

“Through emails or text messages pretending to be official, criminals practice phishing, asking users to download or access a link, to steal data or even make payments for nonexistent extra fees related to package deliveries,” explains Bruno Tortorello, CEO of Jadlog Logística, one of the largest carriers of fractional loads and e-commerce in the country.

In another modality, cybercriminals create ads for virtual auctions of smartphones or other electronic devices at supposedly affordable prices supposedly promoted by carriers on press vehicle pages, to give credibility to the scam.

Non-existent job offers, cloned sites offering alleged carrier services, and fake contracts sent via messaging apps to add fleets are also other ways that scammers use to try to subtract money or steal user data.

“Facing countless fraudulent practices, Jadlog emphasizes that it does not request payments via WhatsApp, email, or social media, nor does it engage in direct sales or charge additional fees through unofficial channels. Furthermore, it reaffirms that all legitimate communication from the company is exclusively carried out through official institutional channels on the website jadlog.com.br, Instagram @jadlog.oficial, Facebook @jadlogoficial, Linkedin @jadloglogistica. This applies to other carriers and various companies in the market, and people need to be vigilant to avoid falling prey to increasingly audacious criminals,” Strack concludes.

Internally, the company is investigating the facts and complaints submitted by customers to locate the source of the scams and identify the fraudsters. Jadlog has informed the Civil Police of São Paulo about these crimes and continues to cooperate with the investigations. Simultaneously, it has been posting fraud alerts on official channels to protect customers and partners.
