Brazilian creates ‘Netflix’ for immigrants to make life easier for those going to the USA

Data from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reveals that, in 2023, 28,050 Brazilians obtained the green card – American document of permanent residence. This is the largest volume in history and the fourth consecutive record in the last five years. In addition, 12,570 naturalizations of Brazilians were recorded in the same year, making Brazil the 16th country that received this benefit.

Facing this scenario of increasing immigration flow to America, a Brazilian entrepreneur created the Viva Academy, digital platform that aims to be the “Netflix of immigrants,” with various videos and interactive content to address the main doubts and challenges faced by those seeking to establish a new life in the USA.

The platform offers content tracks that explain, for example, how immigrants can buy or rent a house, take out insurance, enroll their children in school, obtain a scholarship, get financing, create a resume in English, get a driver’s license, and validate their degree, among other possibilities.

The mission of Viva Academy is to simplify the immigrant’s journey, offering a unique methodology based on real case studies and content taught by experts. For a subscription of R$ 1,197 per year, users have access, during this period, to a collection of hundreds of videos, on various topics, which together should total 200 hours of content by the end of the year.

“Our goal is to make life easier for these immigrants, providing information, knowledge, and security, eliminating the uncertainties that surround the immigration process. Viva Academy is more than a platform; it is a community that supports and inspires,” says Angelo Whosoever, founder of Viva Academy.

The platform, available on the web and in Android and iOS apps, is 100% digital, ensuring easy and convenient access from anywhere. Monthly, new tracks are released, keeping users always up to date. In addition, subscribers have access to exclusive discounts on services from partner experts, such as visa agencies, educational consultants, and psychologists.

Weekly, Viva Academy hosts live sessions with experts to keep users informed about immigration news, allowing immigrants to ask questions in real time.

From theory to practice

The idea for Viva Academy came after Whosoever’s experience with their immigration process, which took about two years and resulted in the approval of their Form I-140 in 2024 – the first step before the final issuance of the green card.

“Throughout my research and conversations with others, I realized there are a series of bureaucratic and cultural obstacles that need to be overcome beyond just the green card. That’s why I decided to create a platform that not only guides immigrants through the process but also helps them integrate and thrive in the US even before they leave Brazil.”

With plans to expand the collection to over 500 videos and reach 10,000 registered users by the end of 2025, Viva Academy aims to establish itself as the leading reference for immigrants seeking not only the green card but also a fulfilling and successful life in the United States.
