Black Friday boosts demand for smartphone models on the Internet in November, according to Radar Simplex

In the month of Black Friday, which took place on November 29 this year, various smartphone models dominated searches in major electronic retail. This is indicated by the edition of Radar Simplex, a survey by the French-Brazilian startup Simplex, which monitors consumer searches in the largest e-commerce websites in the country and captures trends through an artificial intelligence platform. The brands Apple and Xiaomi stood out according to the startup’s survey.

The Xiaomi Poco f5, Xiaomi 14 Pro, Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 14 models showed growth of 445.6%, 283.7%, 249.5%, 297%, 214.3%, and 238.7%, respectively, in November compared to October. Meanwhile, the top of the line iPhone 15 ranked last among the top 15 most searched terms, with a 135.4% increase from the previous month.

“It is already common behavior for Brazilian consumers to look for older smartphone models rather than the most recent ones on Black Friday. Usually, these are items that have bigger discounts, representing a good deal for those looking to upgrade their device by investing less,” explains João Lee, CEO of Simplex.

Samsung also did not go unnoticed in the 2024 mega promotion. However, consumers were more general, looking for good deals not only on the brand’s smartphones. This is indicated by the search for the term ‘Samsung’, which grew by 349% during the period. ‘When it’s a less specific search, people were probably looking for various products,’ highlights João.

In addition to smartphones, remote controls for the PlayStation 4 stood out, taking the lead in Radar Simplex with a jump of 602.1% in November compared to October.

Hair dryer brush, helmet, electric bicycle, and household items such as vacuum cleaner and double bed box complete the ranking.
