The Justice of Santa Catarina decided, this Monday, 25, that Google should block all paid ads that improperly use the name, image and brand of Havan and the businessman, Luciano Hang, under penalty of a fine of R$ 200 thousand per advertisement published, limited to a total of R$ 20 million. The unprecedented measure seeks to combat scams that deceive consumers with false promotions, especially in a busy time like Black Friday.
Judge Joana Ribeiro, from the District of Brusque, responsible for the case, highlights that the scams are becoming increasingly realistic, with the help of artificial intelligence and that, even those who are careful, can be deceived. She claims that Google needs to ensure that only ads from official Havan accounts or Luciano Hang are displayed
The lawyer of Havan and Luciano Hang, Murilo Varasquim, celebrates the unprecedented decision and says it is an important step to prevent scammers from using the names of reputable companies to deceive consumers.
The owner of Havan, Luciano Hang, highlights that it is unacceptable for large platforms to make money from false ads. "The platforms need to be held accountable", because it also causes damage to the image of people and companies, causes incalculable losses for people, say.
The businessman adds that the action takes place at a time of high attention to online scams. "People need to be increasingly attentive and always check the veracity on official channels"
