Unprecedented victory: Google is forced to block fake ads about Havan and Luciano Hang

Santa Catarina's Justice decided on Monday, the 25th, that Google must block all paid advertisements that improperly use the name, image, and brand of Havan and the businessman Luciano Hang, under penalty of a fine of R$ 200,000 per ad published, limited to a total of R$ 20 million. The unprecedented measure aims to combat scams that deceive consumers with false promotions, especially during a busy time like Black Friday.

Judge Joana Ribeiro, from the Brusque District Court, responsible for the case, highlights that scams are becoming increasingly realistic, aided by the use of artificial intelligence, and that even cautious individuals can be deceived. She states that Google needs to ensure that only ads from official Havan accounts or Luciano Hang are displayed.

Havan's lawyer, Luciano Hang, Murilo Varasquim, celebrates the unprecedented decision and says it is an important step to prevent scammers from using the name of reputable companies to deceive consumers.

Havan's owner, Luciano Hang, emphasizes that it is unacceptable for large platforms to make money from false advertisements. "The platforms need to be held accountable, as in addition to damaging the image of individuals and companies, they cause incalculable harm to people," he says.

The businessman adds that the action takes place at a time of heightened awareness of online scams. "People need to be increasingly attentive and always verify the accuracy through official channels."
