99Food plans to expand its operation to at least 100 cities in the coming months. The platform, which is already operating in Goiânia and will debut in the capital of São Paulo in August, offers waiver of commissions and monthly fees for 24 months to restaurants, more affordable prices to consumers, and minimum earnings of R$250 for partner delivery drivers who complete 20 trips (including 5 food deliveries).
“We are excited about arriving in São Paulo in early August. We will bring the same model that is already operating in Goiânia to offer more affordable food to São Paulo consumers and fair earning opportunities to restaurants and delivery drivers,” says Simeng Wang, general director of 99 in Brazil.
The expansion of the new delivery model, planned by 99Food until the middle of next year, aims to provide better conditions to the delivery ecosystem throughout the country. In market practices, in a R$100 order, R$26.20 reais is paid with 12% commission + 11% delivery fee + 3.2% payment transaction. Thus, in a R$100 order, the merchant keeps R$73.80.
At 99Food, the situation is different. Since the merchant does not pay commission or fee, the cost in the case of a R$100 order is R$7.70, with 4.5% delivery fee + 3.2% payment transaction. Therefore, in a R$100 order, the merchant keeps R$92.30 and has the possibility to reduce the price of the food they sell.
PARTNERSHIP
Earlier this month, 99 entered into a partnership with the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel), reinforcing its commitment to the development of the delivery sector to build a more fair, competitive, and balanced business environment.
“We joined Abrasel with the goal of facilitating entrepreneurship in the food sector, promoting a more balanced environment with sustainable practices for the long term,” explains Wang.
In partnership with Abrasel, 99Food will develop initiatives aimed at strengthening the ecosystem with actions to train entrepreneurs and sector employees, produce market studies and research, as well as initiatives that promote more competitiveness, transparency, and sustainability for bars, restaurants, and delivery drivers across the country.
