In a move that reinforces its goal of leading the future of creativity with artificial intelligence, Adobe has announced a new phase for the Firefly platform, which now has its own dedicated app for iOS and Android. This launch marks a significant expansion of the company's mobile operations, which has been increasingly betting on accessible, professional, and AI-driven experiences.
Available globally starting this week, the new Firefly app enables the creation and editing of visual content with generative technology directly on a smartphone. The proposition is clear: to put into the hands of creators, from the novice designer to the digital entrepreneur, the power to transform ideas into images, videos, or vectors with just a few text commands. The app joins other mobile solutions from the brand, such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Express.
“This expansion of Firefly represents a milestone not only for Adobe but for the creative market as a whole,” states Vitor Gomes, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Adobe. “We are delivering mobility, technical precision, and, above all, creative freedom.”
Layered AI: new partnerships, new models
One of the major highlights of this new phase is the expanded AI ecosystem. In addition to its own models, Adobe now integrates technologies developed by partners such as Ideogram, Luma, Pika Labs, and Runway. The idea is to allow users to switch between different generative AI engines for text-to-image, video, and vectors—with full transparency, ensuring freedom of choice and creative optimization.
In total, creators have already produced more than 25 billion assets with Firefly, demonstrating the mass adoption of the technology. To support this growing demand, the company is also introducing new proprietary models:
- Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra: generates images with enhanced realism and improved prompt comprehension;
- Firefly Video Model: creates 1080p videos from text descriptions;
- Firefly Vector Model: transforms text into editable vector artwork;
- And, coming soon, the Firefly Audio Model, focused on AI dubbing and sound effects.
Intelligent Moodboards and Video Collaboration
Another significant advancement is in Firefly Boards, Adobe's moodboard tool that now includes video capabilities. This new feature allows teams to create, remix, and share audiovisual content directly in the cloud, with native support for tools like Adobe Express and Photoshop Web. Currently in public beta, this functionality promises to transform how ideas are prototyped and refined visually with real-time collaboration.
Responsible Creativity
In times of debate about the ethical use of AI, Adobe reinforces its commitment to transparency. All content created with Firefly is accompanied by Content Credentials, a system that ensures the traceability of the material's origin. Furthermore, the company's models are trained on licensed data, protecting the rights of authors and brands.
“We believe that AI should enhance, not replace, human creativity,” points out Vitor Gomes. “That's why we built Firefly with responsibility, transparency, and respect for creators.” Adobe positions Firefly as one of the most comprehensive creative AI platforms on the market and makes its goal clear: to democratize professional creation, whether in the palm of a novice creator's hand or within the workflow of large enterprises.
