Under development, the National Logistics Plan 2050 and road quality were highlights at EXPOLOG 2024.

During the panel Multimodality and the 2050 National Logistics PlanAt EXPOLOG 2024, experts discussed the challenges and opportunities for Brazil's transportation infrastructure. Moderated by Mário Povia, President of the Brazilian Infrastructure Institute (IBI), the meeting addressed critical topics including energy transition, tax reform, and multimodal connectivity.

"A country with Brazil's territorial extent absolutely needs to advance in multimodal transport. This is of fundamental importance, especially due to the vast distances and high cargo volumes, particularly from the agricultural and mining sectors. Therefore, integrating road and rail modes, and including maritime transport in the context of exports, becomes indispensable," stated Marcelo Maranhão, president of the Ceará Cargo and Logistics Transportation Companies Union and institutional director of FETRANSLOG-NE.

Data presented by the National Confederation of Transport (CNT) exposed a worrying scenario: only 14% of federal roads are classified as good or excellent. This situation contributes to high operational costs in road transport, reaching up to 40% in Ceará. The study, which analyzed 141,853 km of highways, highlighted the superior performance of concessioned roads compared to public roads, a result of greater investments per kilometer.

Among the good news, the highlight was the R$3.6 billion investment for the completion of the Transnordestina Railway, a strategic project to expand access to Ceará ports and boost regional competitiveness. The Ceará Infrastructure Secretary, Hélio Winston Leitão, highlighted the state's advantages, including legal security, fiscal balance, and political stability.

Multimodality was identified as essential to reduce road dependence. Daniel Rose, CEO of APM Terminals Pecém, emphasized the importance of more sustainable solutions, such as strengthening inland waterway transport, expanding coastal shipping, and investing in railroads. The transition to clean energy was also cited as a pillar of Brazil's neo-industrialization.

Another central point of the debate was... National Logistics Plan 2050under development by INFRA S.A. As an evolution of the current National Logistics Plan 2035It seeks to integrate land, airport, waterway, and port modes.

The panel highlighted the critical challenges of logistical infrastructure, but also pointed to viable solutions. With the strategic application of resources and the continuation of structural reforms, Brazil can transform its transportation matrix, reducing costs and increasing efficiency in the sector.
