Logistics seasonality is an unavoidable scenario and can be caused by various factors, such as weather conditions, which affect the entire process; increased demand with the arrival of holidays; and major promotions. Professor Marcos de Oliveira Morais, from the Administration course at Santo Amaro University (Unisa), explains how to organize logistics for this period.
According to the expert, keeping all links in the supply chain functioning in an integrated manner is a key element. “Partnerships and reciprocal relationships are fundamental for the work to be done with quality and seriousness. It is extremely important to identify these periods so that not only the demands, but also the operational aspects, can be organized,” emphasizes Marcos.
According to the professor, inventory management is fundamental. Several software models available on the market can assist in this process. Efficient logistics management also contributes to reducing delivery problems; therefore, fleet and employee management becomes relevant.
Skilled labor is a competitive advantage for meeting the expectations of companies involved in the distribution process, as well as improving the organization's image, impacting reliability for the end customer and the quality of service. One possibility for organizing deliveries is outsourcing the logistics process, by contracting partner companies.
