Unmotivated employees do not deliver good results

Talking about the 4’ motivation in the workplace always generates discussion, after all, people can feel motivated by different and unique reasons, the same goes for when they begin to feel unmotivated too. However, there are situations that are no longer acceptable as motivators and that owners, managers and leaders should rethink fully before insisting on continuing implemented.

And with situations that are no longer acceptable’, I'm referring to the installation of some items that I consider pure distraction and that if we analyze coldly, do not add anything to make an employee feel more motivated or not. Be honest: do you think that having a slide, a ping-pong table or even a video game are motivational factors? These items seem to me more for distraction than for motivation.

There are thousands of things that can be offered that would actually promote motivation, and the main thing is: adequate working conditions. People want the work environment to be a place that values their well-being and provides all the necessary tools so that they can perform their functions correctly to achieve the final result.

According to data provided by Gallup, a U. S. opinion poll firm, about 61% of workers do not feel engaged in the job they are in. In addition, the study by management consultancy Bain & Company states that an employee who is unmotivated may be 125% less productive than those who feel engaged and inspired.

So, the question that does not want to be silent: how to keep the team motivated? The OKRs (Key Objectives and Results) - can help a lot, because they prioritize people in different areas and not, is not a talk of embracing trees. By putting employees to participate in the processes and let them know how they are impacting the company, OKRs encourage the existing potential to be exploited, inevitably making them more productive.

Allied to this, the tool proposes to increase clarity and focus, which will make the team members can see what needs to be done and what eventually needs to be improved, getting everyone on the same page. This causes the improvement of the organization's climate, since employees are given autonomy to give ideas and also make decisions, doing good teamwork and being in tune with leaders.

The truth is that in addition to the good working conditions that need to be offered, the real motivation is linked to the recognition of employees by the leadership, which from the moment that starts to see those people and encourage them to develop, see a change in behavior. After all, we all want to be recognized for what we do, having positive rewards in being able to deliver good results.

Want to see better results in your organization, happier and more satisfied people? The answer is simple: start by organizing your management system.
