Organizations are increasingly placing importance on delivering better customer experiences through intelligent applications, including AI-enabled applications and edge applications however, these applications can be complex and time-consuming to develop. As enterprises prepare their infrastructure and tools for an AI-focused future, internal developer portals help overcome the complexity associated with intelligent applications and maximize the developer skills needed to increase productivity. Recent improvements in Red Hat Developer Hub are more than aiming to fulfill this promise by optimizing the developer experience and helping accelerate productivity time-to-market.

Balaji Sivasubramanian, senior director of Developer Tools at Red Hat, said, In addition to breaking technical barriers, updates promise a customized experience for organizations. “The latest features in Red Hat Developer Hub are designed not only to help organizations increase technology adoption and efficiency, but also to ensure a more personalized portal by providing developers direct access to the tools, models, and components they need to drive innovation.

Detailed data and analysis

The widespread adoption of an internal portal for developers is one of the fastest ways to streamline application development and improve developer productivity in an organization. On the other hand, information within these environments is not always easily accessible to actually determine who is accessing and how a portal is being used.

With the Adoption Insights, available as a developer preview, platform engineers have access to a detailed analytical dashboard on how development teams are using Red Hat Developer Hub within their organizations. These insights allow teams to not only focus on areas of success, but also better understand where improvements can be made & help drive adoption and strengthen engagement.

The dashboard provides a detailed view of regularly used templates and plugins, metrics on visits, usage, and more, making it easier to make data-driven decisions, improving user experience, and ultimately increasing overall developer productivity.

Simplified customization through dynamic plugins

No organization approaches application development in the same way, and as such, they need access to custom-made tools and custom components to better meet their needs Red Hat Developer Hub Extensions Catalogavailable as a developer preview, users have access to a catalog of community and Red Hat-verified plugins.

The extensions catalog provides information on more than 60 dynamic plugins, all available through a simplified interface for a better user experience. With access to plugins, organizations have greater control and flexibility to customize the Red Hat Developer Hub portal to their specific needs. Additionally, with the dynamic plugin structure in Red Hat Developer Hub, teams can manage any plugin, including custom ones, from within the runtime, without the need to redesign the portal. This makes it significantly faster and easier to integrate new tools and courses for developers.

Agile changes in service through local development tools

Red Hat Developer Hub also offers a local version of RHDH With the preview already available to the developer, the solution allows platform engineers to run a lightweight, standalone version of Red Hat Developer Hub on their physical machines, allowing users to make changes to their portal faster and easier, for a more agile lifecycle.

With RHDH Local, users can work on templates, test plugins, validate software catalogs, and more, without having to install Red Hat Developer Hub on a Kubernetes cluster.Because it runs in a container environment, users can launch RHDH Local in seconds and shut it down just as quickly. By allowing users to iterate faster and trigger the troubleshoot locally before deploying changes to a production system, RHDH Local helps increase day-to-day efficiency for developers and simplify the user experience.
